They would need to have music that is worthy and supported by enough voters and the Grammy president can only do so much.

I’m not a fan of catch-up awards, since they try to correct an injustice and end up creating another injustice. For example, take a look at who beat Radiohead in each of the three times they were nominated in AOTY, in every case it was a veteran artist who had (arguably) missed out when they were at their peak.

Perhaps it might be getting too late for Björk and some others, but she is one of several artists who have music that now eligible for the Grammys Hall of Fame.

This might be a better way of recognising some artists.

Nicki will never win a Grammy because of bad timing and bad submissions. Also she always releases albums on extremely strong years. Had The Pinkprint come out in early 2014 or had Queen come out in 2019, she’d have won something by now.

Katy Perry was the Post Malone of the 2010s.
