It’s Billie’s to lose at this point, until Beyoncé releases at least.

Billie has began campaigning ahead of the Bond premiere later tonight.

BBC Interview was posted yesterday, and she just uploaded a live performance of the song on YouTube.

Given her history of strong campaigns at the Grammys, she will definitely be vying hard for the Oscar.

She’s frontrunner right now to me.

Given how bad Dear Evan Hansen is doing critically and commercially. I feel inclined to remove Anonymous Ones as my fifth pick regardless of how impressive the song was to me. And I’m inclined to bump the Belfast song into the fifth spot given how acclaimed the film is and even though I haven’t listened to the song yet.

Encanto is a musical releasing on a good date, it could pull a Coco and give Lin Manuel Miranda that EGOT

    Yes. This can happen.

In The Heights could’ve helped but let’s see where it can go!

The problem with ITH is that it released too early and it didn’t do good at the box office or streaming, it was a critics hit tho

Thanks, Variety, for finding Diane Warren’s entry… then NOT putting it in your top five. Unless it’s pure dregs, if it’s DW it’s in cuz the Music Branch loves her even if the rest of the Academy doesn’t. And I just found it on Apple Music; it’s performed by Reba McEntire, who doesn’t do dregs. It WILL get a nomination. Mark my word.

And NTTD outside the top five? Puhleeze. I predicted it would win as soon as I heard it over a year ago — and it would have if not for the movie’s delay. The worst I’ve heard about it — that it sounds too much like “Skyfall” — is a backhanded compliment considering (a) that was the first Oscar-winning Bond theme and (b) Billie Eilish vocally is nowhere near Adele. It’s STILL the one to beat.

    1
    Cyrano
    “Every Letter”
Matt Berninger, Carin Besser, Aaron Dessner, Bryce Dessner

Has anyone been able to confirm that this song is indeed original to the film? I have found a YouTube audio recording of what appears to be its 2019 off-Broadway production, with Peter Dinklage as Cyrano & Jasmine Cephas Jones (vs. Haley Bennett in the film) as Roxanne: https://youtu.be/ZhL6AsP6yI0

Most of the tracks here (chapter stops in the video) are unnamed; one of the comments there suggests (without proof) that “Every Letter” is one of them, but my limited listen to it doesn’t tell me if it’s any of these. (Since IMDb says Bennett sings it in the film, if it’s here Cephas Jones probably sings it.) If it is here, then it’s probably ineligible for BOS as written for stage, not screen.

At this point, In the Heights and Dear Evan Hansen are out. Both underperformed big time. “Anonymous Ones” from DEH could have made it had the move done decently but it REALLLLLLLY bombed. In the Heights didn’t have a strong enough new song to survive its mediocre success.

    My current ranking…

    1) No Time to Die (Billie Eilish)
    2) King Richard (Beyonce)
    3) Respect (Jennifer Hudson & Carole King)
    4) Cyrano
    5) Belfast (Van Morrison)

The Academy will probably sneak Warren her nomination as always
