In retrospect, do you think Ed Sheeran would’ve been able to beat Bruno Mars?
I’m starting to have some questions. Bruno Mars is certainly a rising star, and by that I mean he’s the Michael Jackson of our generation. Everyone likes him. Few days before the Grammy’s, I could clearly see he would sweep, I said it, and it happened. Now, I’m starting to believe, he would’ve still won even if Ed Sheeran was nominated.
Ed Sheeran lacks the showmanship Bruno has. He’s failed to put up a memorable show in his entire career. I can’t think of any performance he’s done that is actually jaw-dropping. Bruno’s performance last night was just flawless to say the least.

And we’re not talking about Justin Bieber here (his fans would use bots and shit). I think his sweep in the AMAs was more of a sign of an overwhelming support that he has.
I think people on golderrby are underestimating him a lot. I could see Shape Of You potentially winning RoTY but that’s it.

January 29, 2018 at 5:54 pm #1202483016SOTY was lock. He might have missed only AOTY.
I think if he had been nominated instead of Jay-Z, Kendrick’s chance to win AOTY would have been much more since rap votes would not have been split unlike pop votes. BRP knew they totally changed the results when they snubbed him.

First, talking about VMAs is totally unnecessary because we know they themselves choose the winners although they claim it’s public vote.
Second, the most who voted for AMAs were the fans of Disney stars who hate Ed so much. If people like Bruno more than Ed, they would buy his stuff. It is obvious, isn’t it?
Shape of You spent SIX MONTHS on adult contemporary charts. Could Bruno even hit #1 on that chart?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2018 at 6:07 pm #1202483025It was a typo, I meant AMAs in both instances. VMAs are always rigged.
I think Bruno sales were as good as Ed Sheeran’s. And to be fair, Charts performance is a contextual factor. Singles do not win automatically thanks to their strong chart performance (e.g. Despacito). So I don’t see 24K Magic beating Shape Of You. But I also don’t see Ed Sheeran beating Bruno Mars for album of the year. 24K Magic is a better album, coupled with Bruno Mars showmanship and likability.

January 29, 2018 at 7:01 pm #1202483046Fuck yes! Ed Sheeran would’ve won 5 Grammys last night if he weren’t snubbed in the General field.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2018 at 7:12 pm #1202483052Not necessarily, but there could have been more votes spread between the two and made for a fairer general field. But the Grammys’ agenda has been made.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2018 at 7:16 pm #1202483053If Ed Sheeran wasn’t an idiot and submitted “Castle on the Hill” for Song of the Year, he would’ve easily won in a barren field. But instead he submitted “Shape of You”, a song about loving a woman for her body and for sex. Fucking disgusting.

January 29, 2018 at 7:42 pm #1202483069I think there would have been a split. Ed Sheeran would have won Record. Bruno would still have won Album. Song is a tough one. Who knows, maybe they would have caused a vote split.
