    What are your favorite duets?

One of mine that I am sure shocked everyone was No More Tears (Enough Is Enough) by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. Who would have thought that these two would pair together on a song.

Also, fun fact is that It’s Raining Men was offered to both of them separately, but they both passed on it. I am sure one reason that Barbra was asked was a result of doing No More Tears (Enough Is Enough).

I would also add I Don’t Know Much by Linda Ronstandt and Aaron Neville. Very beautiful performance and it looked like they really connected with each other in their live performances.

Rick James & Teena Marie, “Fire & Desire” is an intense duet and they show they connected on that duet.

Lionel Richie & Diana Ross, “Endless Love” – when they performed this at the Oscars – Lionel is trying to connect with Diana Ross and Diana Ross is not having it and is focused on the audience.

Whitney Houston & Mariah Carey, “When You Believe”

Yes! This was such a special duet pairing. Whitney and Mariah’s voices mesh so surprisingly well together. My favorite part of the song starts at the line, “They [miracles] don’t always happen when you ask. And it’s easy to give in to your fears”. The harmony they create here is pure perfection.

LOL! Interesting you read it that way. I guess her being focused more on the audience could also simply be attributed to stage managers perhaps having had made her aware beforehand of where cameras would be positioned, who had advised her on how often to look (so that she and Lionel aren’t strictly facing each other the majority of the time and the audience is able to more readily connect with the performance). Just a theory…

I always preferred Mariah’s and Luther’s version of Endless Love to Lionel and Diana. The latter really made us think they were lovers but Mariah’s vocals ate them up. Her best cover with Without You

^^^ It’s a virtual tie for me between the two “Endless Love” versions (I feel like both bring something special to the table), but I too much prefer Mariah’s cover of “Without You” to the original.
