Okay so I know most posters on here probably don’t celebrate the holidays with your different religions, but since the holidays are coming up all that has been playing on my local stations are Christmas tunes. My favorite songs are:

“Oh Holy Night” by Celine Dion.

    “Charlie Brown Song”.

“Do You Hear What I Hear” by Whitney Houston.

    “Santa Baby” by Madonna.

“All I Want for Christmas is You” by Mariah Carey.

And my absolute favorite is “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee.

    What are yours?

Her whole These Are the Special Times album is amazing! I love the nontraditional song on it.

Taylor Swift has a great Christmas EP, a highlight is “Christmases When You Were Mine”

Dave Barnes has an absolutely terrific holiday album as well, Very Merry Christmas. Listen to his song “Family Tree”, it’s one of the most poignant Christmas songs I’ve ever heard.

Really all of Sufjan Stevens’ Songs for Christmas. My favorites are likely to be “That Was the Worst Christmas Ever!” and “Sister Winter.” All of the songs on it are good, however.

”Do They Know Its Christmas?” – Band Aid

Who is the they in this song’s name? I’ve never heard of the act that sings this song, so I haven’t heard the song its self before either.

My top three favorite Christmas songs are these. (smiles)

1.) “Fall Softly Snow”-Jim Ed Brown & Helen Cornelius
2.) “What Do You See?”-Sonya Isaacs
3.) “Only You Can Bring Me Cheer”-Alison Krauss

God bless you and my favorites always!!!

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

My favorite is Christmas at the Zoo by The Flaming Lips.

Also, the whole of Sufjan Stevens’ Songs for Christmas.

I’ve always loved Mariah’s All I Want for Christmas and Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song.

My favorite Christmas carol has to be Let it Snow, though.

“All I Want For Christmas” by Mariah Carey hands down.   It is extremely hard to listen to that song and NOT smile and get into the holiday spirit.   A classic already.

Yeah, I love his album. Outside of Amy Grant, it’s the best original Christmas tracks I’ve ever heard: “Very Merry Christmas”, “Christmas Tonight”, “Mary and Joseph”, “I Pray On Christmas”, etc.
He’s actually on my list of the Top 15 Christmas Originals: http://onthegointo.com/?p=3056

And for kicks, here’s my list of the top 15 Christmas Renditions (ones that are a little bit out of the box): http://onthegointo.com/?p=3037

In terms of albums, yeah, Celine Dion’s is fantastic, but my favourites are Amy Grant’s Home For Christmas and A Christmas To Remember, Sheryl Crow’s Home For Christmas, and Faith Hill’s Joy To The World.
