The Grammys have had a unique history of nominating several film and TV soundtracks for Album Of The Year throughout its history, with 4 of them even winning the top honor. So I’ve compiled a list of all them right here and the year they were nominated:

The Music From Peter Gunn (1959) *
More Music From Peter Gunn (1960)
    Breakfast At Tiffany’s (1962)
    West Side Story (1962)
    The Sound Of Music (1966)
    Doctor Zhivago (1967)
    Star Wars (1978)
    Saturday Night Fever (1979) *
    Grease (1979)
    Flashdance (1984)
    Purple Rain (1985)
    Beauty And The Beast (1993)
    The Bodyguard (1994) *
    Waiting To Exhale (1997)
    O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2002) *
    Black Panther (2019)

Asterisk (*) indicates Album Of The Year winner

Which are your favorite and least favorite nominees?

Purple Rain is one of the best albums of all time, yet alone one of the best soundtracks ever created. Should have won AOTY man.

Waiting to Exhale is my favorite. Should’ve won Album of the Year !. Classic album with Whitney, Chaka, TLC, Aretha, Patti, Brandy etc.

I really enjoyed The Greatest Showman soundtrack. You know the feeling when a record is released around a memorable period in your life. Much reminiscences when you play the tracks again.
