I wasn’t sure whether to post this in Television or Music, but some of you may know a New York times documentary premiered on Hulu entitled Framing Britney Spears and it focuses on the ongoing conservatorship battle Britney has been placed under since her much publicized breakdown in 2008.
It also focuses on the media scrutiny Britney was under in the early 2000’s and the extremely misogynistic and mentally abusive culture she had to deal with on a day to day basis.
It is a harrowing watch and has gathered a lot of media / celebrity attention.

No popstar today would be stalked by the paparazzi the way Britney has.
I think this documentary has exposed how flawed the conservatorship system is in the first place as it is very difficult for a conservertee to get out of it.
If Britney is able to produce 4 albums since 2008, go on various tours and the Las Vegas residency she seems to be a pretty competent human being like the rest of us and should have her full human rights restored. Her father and his legal team are just exploiting her for money.

But mostly it was her dad’s, her label and her ex husband ans son’s custodial drama which led to her breakdown. I feel so bad for her.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 9, 2021 at 6:09 pm #1204034244I watched it over the weekend. It’s heartbreaking. She HAS been truly framed & reduced to a commodity by those pulling the strings. This woman deserves SO much better. She is clearly competent enough to at the very least request her father’s removal as Conservator & appoint someone else. A reasonable request, basic human rights, that she requested & that should have been granted. So gut wrenchingly sad that the one person who is supposed to be taken care of in all this is clearly the one being LEAST considered.

Why are the paparazzi even a thing? It’s straight up harassment.

Treating a celebrity however is not okay for their mental health, or anyone’s. I’m not saying that they are good for criticism, but when you undercuts people’s success or downplay their struggles is not a good look, if they are at they are at wrong.
