Bones UK is the biggest shock, a very small band with a very small fan base, It is always great to see a surprise like that.
Bring me the Horizon have now been nominated in consecutive years now, I am so happy.
The 1975 finally have a proper Grammy nomination, that is awesome.November 20, 2019 at 6:37 am #1203191463

I am pretty happy that some first time nominee unknown/less known bands were nominated, gets boring seeing the same nominees all the time.November 20, 2019 at 6:54 am #1203191575
So happy for Big Thief and Thom Yorke. They deserve to win.November 20, 2019 at 7:00 am #1203191634
Does anyone remember people saying Vampire Weekend had no shot at nominations?
So happy for themNovember 20, 2019 at 7:01 am #1203191638
I really hope The 1975 can take Best Rock Song home, they deserve it, but I highly doubt it.November 20, 2019 at 11:27 am #1203192707
It happens every year, but this time the thing is even more evident than usual: Alternative Album is by far the category with the highest quality. Especially delighted for UFOF, but every album deserves to win here – except for Father of the Bride. Which is the one that will end up with the trophy, lol.November 20, 2019 at 11:50 am #1203192812
This field is a joke, seriously. The Cranberries were nominated only once for “Zombie”. None of their 4 albums from the 90s (the only relevant, commercially-successful, and good ones) were nominated. But this new album (which I didn’t know existed) was nominated just because Dolores O’Riodan died. Conclusion: Need a Grammy in the rock field? Die!November 20, 2019 at 11:54 am #1203192830

Excuse me, no. They have NEVER BEEN nominated before! For some reason, I thought they were. But no they were nominated for MTV, EMA, and JUNO (Canadian Grammys)November 20, 2019 at 1:48 pm #1203193253
It’s nice to see The Cranberries finally nominated for a Grammy! I wish Dolores was still living to see this achievement.
Yeah, it is surprising they didn’t get any Grammy love at the height of their popularity, “Linger” and “Zombie” alone would have been great Grammy contenders. I hope that they end up winning.

it’s a bit surprising that Tool missed out on Rock Album nomination, while being nominated for Metal Performance & Rock Song.
could it be that the committee was turned off by the length of tracks on the album?November 21, 2019 at 1:50 pm #1203195581
The last time I can remember an AOTY nominee losing in Alternative is Arcade Fire for The Suburbs, and I can’t see a scenario like that happening again anytime soon. It feels very close between Bon Iver and Vampire Weekend, the committee clearly loves the former and has since their self-titled.
Brittany Howard will take at least one if not both of her noms (though I’d love to see the 1975 upset), with Tool in Metal and Cranberries in Rock Album
