I have spent a while, listening to all of these Rock/Metal songs/Albums nominated and to be honest, I pretty much like all of them.

I would say the only song I thought was a bit average was Woman by Karen O and Danger Mouse, the Metal category finally has some songs that arent just screaming and actually has some clean vocals (looking at you August Burns Red).

I would say Woman by Karen O and Danger Mouse is probably my least favourite song, but its not bad or anything as I said.

Woman is a pop song, they nominate it in the wrong category.

Woman is rock, a post-punk song that sounds very Karen O/Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I don’t love it but don’t hate it. The problem here is that she was nominated just because she’s Karen O and they forgot to nominate her for one of the best songs ever written “Maps”, so you know she needed the nod.

I don’t know I don’t think the rock voters listen to the submissions. They just vote for the names. Even Bones UK, despite being new artists, they were kinda the most played new band on rock stations of the year (ala Greta Van Fleet last year, Highly Suspect before that). Metal is different, there’s a good balance of new/veteran/unknown.

No Tame Impala again, no new female artists (Angel Olsen, Bishop Briggs, Sharon Van Etten, even Poppy with X) and the list goes on…

Speaking of the Cranberries, does anyone think they’ll be booked for a performance at the 2020 Grammys? Not necessarily on the main telecast, but I could see them performing at the premiere ceremony with one or two guest vocalists as a tribute to Dolores.

They could perform “Zombie” with Bad Wolves.

In the Rock / Alternative Field Sharon Van Etten, Bruce Springsteen, The Black Keys, The Raconteurs, Greta Van Fleet, The National, Slipknot and Weezer got snubbed entirely.

Only Greta Van Fleet and Weezer deserved Zero nominations.

Jack White always was a Grammy darling, but this is the second year in a row that he is completely snubbed. Dan Auerbach, at least, was nominated for producer of the year.
