Midnights could be in AOTY race only if it spent 7 weeks or more at the top of Billboard 200 like what Fearless, 1989 and folklore did. It’s a legitimate frontrunner for AOTY.

it most likely will lol just wait and see. it’s already locked for three weeks but its doing another 3-4 minimum , especially with the christmas pure sales boost she always gets. midnights is by far her most successful pop album since 1989 because its genuinely smashing on streaming servies (38M daily on spotify) after three weeks.

Taylor is the frontrunner but a 4th AOTY win seems too soon

But which artist could beat her? I have no idea honestly. All the biggest contenders are already nominated in the 2023 Grammys: Adele, Kendrick, Beyoncé…and none of them will have another album for next year (we don’t know if Beyonce’s Act II album is even real or just a rumor.)

Maybe Olivia Rodrigo could be an AOTY contender if her second album has more acclaim than her debut and has the success her debut had.

We’re still in November. Big names will show up until the next September!

midnights won’t win AOTY and why should it? even as a taylor fan i don’t want it to win. but AOTY is also not the only category thats important. there are other pop categories and SOTY she will get nominated in she can campaign on winning. anti-hero is the smash hit tay hasn’t had in years. even if there’s no competition someone obscure should/will win against midnights.

Honey; had Taylor Swift NOT won Album of the Year for those shitfests 1989 and Folklore, people could get behind a Midnights Album of the Year win.

Beyonce should be releasing act ii in this current eligibility period.

There’s also Olivia Rodrigo who’s near 2 years since SOUR, so a new album by her could be near too.

Then there’s also Billie Eilish who has so far released albums/EPs in 2-year-intervalls, so she should be due another album by summer 2023.

So unless all 3 women inexplicably don’t release anything in the next 10 months or so, Swift will still be facing against tough competition in both the General Field and pop categories. And that’s not counting any surprises we may get the next year.

Drake is actually lucky Taylor gave the BB200 to him. She could’ve released 3am physicals to block him if she wanted to.

Taylor probably saw Drake’s diss for Megan + him releasing in the same timeline as her album rollout– her and Drake’s friendship immediately went poof. Just shows that you really shouldn’t mess with Taylor’s plans (she let Adele pass, but she she showed wasn’t playing anymore with Drake– since he’s an a** 🤣)

She let Adele pass? An artist that hadn’t released anything in 6 years at that time needs to think about Taylor’s plans too?

So basically Taylor has plans every year and no one can’t release close to her:

    2019: Lover
    2020: Folklore, evermore
    2021: Fearless (TV), Red (TV)
    2022: Midnights

Poor Olivia if she dares to release next year close to Speak Now (TV) or 1989 (TV)

SZA announced in her Billboard magazine interview today that her sophomore album is titled ‘S.O.S’ and it’s coming in December. The writer of the article said apparently it’s a really strong album and body of work.

Hoping she gets her well deserved solo wins next year! It was great seeing her and Doja win their first Grammy for KMM, but I would love to see SZA also awarded for her solo work.

So yeah Midnights and S.O.S are the main contenders right now for AOTY. I expect Rihanna will release her new album soon too so we can add her into the list.

Arctic Monkeys “The Car” maybe maybe……

dojas next album (teased to be coming next year) could be a general field runner for next year, considering her rising status as a grammy favorite. depending on what genre album it might be (rap and r&b albums have been teased) im wondering if she’ll have a chance at rap and r&b categories?

If we get a new Doja album this cycle, she’ll potentially extend her nominations (she’s already a 16x Grammy nominee which is impressive since she’s only been in the mainstream for 2-3 years). I’d expect AOTY, ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Vocal/Progressive R&B Album (I don’t think her music will ever be seen as ‘pure rap’ by the Academy but progressive R&B could happen), Pop Solo, Pop Duo/Group, Rap Performance, Melodic Rap Performance, R&B Performance, BMV… she could honestly become the most nominated of the year if she does indeed drop a new album since her music is so versatile and can fit into so many categories, whilst also being big enough for GF competition.

Billboard have reported that Cardi B is going to drop her sophomore studio album in early 2023.

So we potentially have the following artists dropping albums this cycle:
    – Beyoncé (acts II/III of Renaissance are yet to come!)
    – Billie Eilish
    – Cardi B
    – Doja Cat
    – Dua Lipa
    – Olivia Rodrigo
    – Rihanna (extremely high anticipation to be dropping soon)
    – Tyler, The Creator (tends to drop an album every two summers, Call Me If You Get Lost was in 2021 so we’re due one in Summer 2023 it seems)

Plus albums already released from Taylor Swift & Arctic Monkeys, and SZA’s upcoming album in December. Hopefully we have an exciting line-up in the GF again.

Looking forward to Manuel Turizo’s upcoming album and Rauw Alejandro’s “Saturno” nominated for Best Urbano Album. Also, Caroline Polachek in the Alternative categories. And… SZA any and everywhere she submits b/c gurl…

caroline has been releasing bop after bop these past few months, an album is definitely coming soon from her. however, the alt or even just rock categories tend to be very crowded with big names so i don’t expect someone like her to be acknowledged by the recording academy. as of right now arctic monkeys will clearly win those categories anyway, unless phoebe bridgers  or beck release an album.

your mom called, i told her, you're fucking up big time!
