To who exactly? Because the 2 million copies that Midnights has sold so far in the US add up to around $43 million dollars in revenue. Compare that to SOS streams payout
nobody in the general public buys albums anymore, streaming has taken over. the only people buying albums are fans

The only people streaming albums are fans too. You’re crazy if you think the “general public”, or at least what you are implying is the GP, is the one listening to Gone Girl, F2F or Seek & Destroy.
Anyways, this discussion is stupid. Midnights made $43 million dollar from pure sales. It is not an irrelevant measure in the music industry and SOS will smash on vinyl once released.
January 21, 2023 at 8:42 pm #12052568582021+, best first weeks/first full weeks (if lower midweek release) for US Youtube
Montero 28 mil (Grammy nom)
Butter 16.6
Industry Baby 16.3
We Don’t Talk About Bruno 15.8
*Up 14.5
*All Too Well 12.4 (Grammy nom)
*Drivers License 12.3
Rapstar 12
*Build a ***** 11.9
*Flowers 11.9
Impressive for Flowers, though looks like recently Grammy voters don’t care about videos being a Moment. If Jon Batiste and Brown Skin Girl being the most recent winners wasn’t proof enough.

January 22, 2023 at 7:42 am #1205257245I was never a big Dua Lipa fan but she’s shown growth. Hopefully that evolution continues cus nobody else has given us a contemporary Pop era quite like Future Nostalgia.

ah i apologize. I misunderstood your comment. Yes you’re right but I would argue that Olivia RODRIGO had just as big of a pop era for Sour.

sour didn’t really smash with any of its post album singles like future nostalgia did though. still a huge era though with songs that were probably bigger at least in the US
January 22, 2023 at 12:24 pm #1205257783Very excited for miss Dula! I know she’s gonna bring another well thought era. Also I need another “Be The One”, it’s still one of my favorites from her.
Give Brian Cox his Emmy!
