sour didn’t really smash with any of its post album singles like future nostalgia did though. still a huge era though with songs that were probably bigger at least in the US
Why does this matter? Both are huge but Sour is clearly the more popular album. Just look at the streams from the album tracks. It’s not Sour’s or Olivia’s fault that she became an instant household name and didn’t need weeks of push to smash with a single post-release. At the end of the day Sour has four songs with over a billion streams on Spotify. Future Nostalgia two.

but future nostalgia was an actual era with multiple huge worldwide singles spanning multiple years… sour’s era was over in 9 months

For an ended era Sour is still doing well. The only two females charting higher albums on Billboard 200 right now are Taylor and SZA. I didn’t see Dua….wait there she is with Future Nostalgia at #62.

the grammys hate k-pop, and i don’t see them changing their mind about it anytime soon, newjeans is far from getting a nomination sadly.

January 24, 2023 at 7:32 am #1205262515is kim petras eligible for bna?
January 24, 2023 at 7:44 am #1205262599Honey, Kim Petras has released two studio albums, four EPs, and is Grammy-nominated. She is NOT eligible for Best New Artist.
January 24, 2023 at 7:47 am #1205262654Kim Petras is not eligible for Best New Artist since she is nominated as a performer in 2023.
January 24, 2023 at 9:10 am #1205263313so the rule is if you were nominated as a performer before then you can’t be nominated? i was confused because they nominated finneas after he won like 5 grammys with billie

But he won as producer and songwriter. BNA is an award for performing.

She already has a record breaking three AOTY awards. It wouldn’t make sense for her to be in the running.

Praying she can sliver into a Progressive R&B nom!

Sure. Personally, I don’t enjoy the genre that much, but the NewJeans EP was the best piece of k-pop I’ve ever listened to. They’re doing good numbers and I could see them becoming a big group. Anyway, it’s still very early to predict these names.

Hope she gets some love. I wonder if Beyoncé has a feature or songwriting credit, maybe that’ll increase her chances?
