This gotta be the biggest Grammy upset… ever? Gaga winning made sense from every single point of view. and if she were to lose it would have been to the biggest album or the grammy darling.
If you go back and read predictions for Grammys winners who upset in the past (Beck, Arcade Fire) you’re gonna find at least a few people saying those would win. Not a single person actually predicted him this time.

I’m honestly so shocked. Question: the organizers don’t really know who wins, right? They must have put AOTY last and not televise Pop Traditional because they thought Tony was winning. right?

Gaga has had a very unfortunate awards season. There’s a bit of a pattern here.

She defied all precursors stats and got snubbed at the Oscars after being hailed as the frontrunner – to not just get nominated but also win, for weeks.

She defied the long withstanding engineered album – AOTY statistic and lost AOTY after being hailed as the frontrunner to win for months.

People only hailed it as the frontrunner because of the Tony Bennett factor. Most of us thought it would be relegated to Traditional Pop, so it actually overperformed. Most of us already said that it wouldn’t be deserving of a win; now that it lost people are looking for things that aren’t there. Gaga will be fine.
