The reason folklore won is every.damn.song, cause that album has no skips. Periodt.

It was Grammy-performed Song of the Decade ‘august’ that did that I believe

I think Evermore sealed the deal. It’s an even better album than folklore and I hope it’s submitted to alt album just for shits and giggles (and also because it IS an alt album)

The only win I’m upset with is RoTY.

DSN, Colors, Cirlcles, and even Black Parade are out there.

I was so close in the GF + Pop categories lmao

6/8 runner ups won and the other 2 I was right (BPVA & SOTY)

everything i wanted just screamed “this is going to win an afterglow Grammy” the second it came out. It’s a pretty fantastic song, but win-worthy? It was a middle of the pack nominee for ROTY at best. Honestly surprised Harry was able to win with Billie continuing to be a juggernaut with the Academy. Given the surprises in most of the categories, I guess I am willing to concede a few extra trophies to Miss Eillish, even if they are somewhat overkill.

Honestly, super stoked for how the Grammys have been increasingly celebratory of female artists. Women really run music these days (as they should!).

I sucked because I didn’t follow my gut in some categories. Last year I predicted the Academy to spread the wealth between Ariana, Billie, Lizzo and Nas, while this year I predicted Taylor to sweep. I don’t know what they’re going to do next year. But anyways here are some bad takes:

    • The new batch of voters influenced on the inconsistencies between Pop and the General Field. Sweeps should become more rare.
    • The Grammys shared the wealth the same way the Latin Grammys usually do.
    • The Grammys want to award long overdue artists such as Tanya Tucker, Ledisi and specially Nas.
    • Country voters will only vote for contemporary Country music if it’s as innovative as Kacey’s. They’re fully supportive of veterans and more traditional music now.
    • R&B voters don’t give an eff about chart and impact. It’s all about connections. Expect upsets and don’t trust Gold Derby odds!
    • H.E.R. is an industry plant, but I don’t care. I still love her.

I am truly surprised with this Latin Grammys shit. Loved the winners though.

    FYC:

Record of the Year: Hit Different by SZA ft. Pharrell Williams & co.

Folklore winning because of these songs: “mirrorball”, “august”, and “this is me trying”
