So, first, those are the AOTY winners to win just AOTY and nothing else:

2011: Arcade Fire – The Suburbs
    2021: Taylor Swift – Folklore

Someone on here said about a week or two back that Taylor would pull an Arcade Fire, lose all her categories except album of the year. That’s crazy and ten years later! I wish I could remember that poster! I bow to you king or queen!

Congratulations to Grammy Winners: Jazmine Sullivan, Doja Cat, SZA and Olivia Rodrigo!

Weirdest win of the night was easily Thundercat in Progressive R&B. His only other nominations have been for his work on TPAB. And while it got got good reviews, they weren’t outstanding or anything. The trend of biggest album always winning her completely shattered too; he only peaked at #38.

ICB winning SOTY feels so obvious in hindsight. People were going to vote for a song called ‘I Can’t Breathe’ without even having listened to it. And then the voters who did listen to it would have no choice but to vote for it because, how could they not? It’s easily the best song lyrically.

Knew Billie was competitive in all her categories. EIW was baity, produced by the guy who she’d just won ROTY/SOTY with and if Dua couldn’t even take pop solo, there was no way she’d take ROTY. She just doesn’t have cross genre appeal.

God I was so nervous for Taylor when Dua won BPVA. Glad she pulled through in the end.

Also BNA was the tightest it’s ever been so I’m really happy Megan pulled through. All of the photos of her backstage with her 3 grammys are wholesome. She looks so happy.

I’m so delighted they spread the wealth. Sweeps are BORING and it was nice that majority of artists got something.

EDIT: my guesses for the final orders

AOTY: Taylor > Dua > Jacob > HAIM (alt was so strong this year) > Coldplay > Black Pumas > Post > Jhené
    ROTY: Billie > Megan > Dua > Beyoncé > Post > Doja > DaBaby > Black Pumas
    SOTY: H.E.R > Billie > Taylor > Dua > Beyoncé > Post > Roddy > Julia
BNA: Megan > Doja > Phoebe > Kaytranda > Ingrid Andress D Smoke > Chika > Noah Cyrus

    World Cup: 🇨🇦 (b̶u̶t̶ ̶a̶l̶s̶o̶ ̶🇬🇭🇰🇷🇺🇾🇦🇷)

Taylor isn’t ahead of Gaga in Grammy wins count. Maybe if Evermore wins a few grammy’s this year she could pull ahead. But as of now she hasn’t yet. I was only talking about Grammy wins count. I don’t think Gaga is a “bigger” musician than Taylor personally.

Gaga is ahead in pop, but it’s clear Taylor has much more cross-genre appeal. Gaga has never won a general field category and hasn’t even been nominated for AOTY since 2012.

3 AOTY wins, 11 Grammys total > 0 General Field wins, 12 Grammys total

    SOTY: H.E.R. > Billie > Taylor > Beyonce > Dua > Post > Roddy > Julia
    BNA: Megan > Phoebe > Kaytandra > Doja > Ingrid > Chika > Noah

    That’s my guess

Gagas cards just havent aligned. I think with the right project she could appeal to a wider group of people. She won in the dance field, traditional pop and soundtrack categories. And she can definetely appeal to a wide age group of people.

Shallow/ASIB was her shot at the general field.

I think the BRP shouldn’t be removed but there should be more transparency of who is in there. they probably wouldn’t block that obvious if the gp knew who votes for it. it definitely is amazing though how smaller artists can get GF noms through the panel, but the undeserved (!) blocking of certain artists just because the BRP personally doesn’t want them is annoying & should stop.

Even if the BRP made a bad choice by stopping Fiona from getting her deserved three noms, at least we didn’t get a bunch of awful albums nominated. So I say keep them. I prefer Black Pumas, Jhene to Justin or Lady Gaga’s middling record.

I Can’t Breathe winning SOTY is such an inspired pick. I’m glad the right song won, not those mediocre written Pop tracks aka Cardigan and Don’t Start Now.

Honey, I’m shook that the Grammys think it’s okay to give black artists a shitload of R&B and Rap Grammys but NOT any General Field awards.

    H.E.R. won SOTY, so…

And Megan won BNA so this year they did a great job at showing diversity.
