This is such a controversial category. There is much discussion every year regarding Album of the Year. Let’s see those opinions. Here are some of mine…

-Aaliyah’s “Aaliyah” should have been nominated.
    -2010 nominees were horrible.
-Prince rightfully lost to Lionel Richie in 1985.
-Missy Elliott should have won over Outkast.

“-Prince rightfully lost to Lionel Richie in 1985.”

Some unpopular opinions are just so wrong and unnecessary.

Blackout should have been nominated for album of the year in 2008. Be it for terrible reasons and bad press, Britney was still relevant and everywhere in 2007. Her VMA performance was iconic and Blackout is a stellar album, dance pop perfection. Face it, we all would have loved the industry’s hot messes Amy and Britney battling it out that year.

Congratulations 12 Time Grammy Winner Taylor Swift!

Let’s be honest, the only reason anyone remembers Can’t Slow Down is because it was sampled in that Enrique Iglesias song from 2010.

I think Adele rightfully won over Lemonade. Beyonce’s self titled album was so much better.

Para more should have received an Album of the Year nomination for: After Laughter, it’s easily one of the most gorgeous and heartbreaking records of the last decade.

Congratulations 12 Time Grammy Winner Taylor Swift!

All of AOTY wins by Taylor Swift are deserving.

Kendrick Lamar was HIGHWAY robbed in 2016 and 2018. And yes the Color of his skin was 100% a factor.

Beyonce was robbed so bad in 2017 for Album

Of The Year that even Adele had to admit it.

The fact that only TWO rap acts have ever won AOTY is atrocious

Why in God’s name Kanye wasn’t nominated for AOTY for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the more despicable oversights in Grammy history

Two of the most terrible takes i’ve ever read.

Unpopular opinion, but Sound & Color should’ve won AOTY ovee 1989 and To Pimp A Butterfly.

Looking back, that lineup was very strong.

Berry Gordy was on the Grammy committee at the time and basically ran a white guilt campaign to get Lionel the win because it was the first time any Motown label album had gotten nominated for AOTY.

In an ideal world for me, Kendrick wins in 2016, then Beyoncé and then Lorde. Kacey and Billie were fine for me.
