^True. Kendrick got 2 undeserved Grammy wins for “I”. It’s a good song but it’s not the Best Rap Song of 2014 nor was it the Best Rap Performance. Drake, KANYE & Nicki were all robbed. I would go: Best Rap Performance: Drake – 0 to 100/ The Catch Up runner up: Childish Gambino – 3005 Best Rap Song: Kanye West – Bound 2 f/ Charlie Wilson Runner up: Nicki Minaj – Anaconda

Thats part of the reason why the Grammys have been woefully out of touch when it comes to the Hip Hop/R&B categories. If they don’t screw over Kendrick in 2014 then they wouldn’t have had to feel such pressure to award him in 2015. They dropped THE BALL in 2014. Its been going on for a minute. Just wait and see how they fall over themselves to award The Weeknd in 2023 or whenever his next album comes out to make up for this year.

Keep dreaming! Will Smith totally deserved all four of his Grammy wins.

    How I would’ve voted…

    1989 BEST RAP PERFORMANCE
    1. Salt-N-Pepa, “Push It”
    2. LL Cool J, “Going Back to Cali”
    3. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, “Parents Just Don’t Understand”
    4. J.J. Fad, “Supersonic”
    5. Kool Moe Doe, “Wild Wild West”

    1992 BEST RAP DUO/GROUP PERFORMANCE
    1. Salt-N-Pepa, “Let’s Talk About Sex”
    2. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, “Summertime”
    3. Heavy D & The Boyz, “Now That We Found Love”
    4. Naughty by Nature, “O.P.P.”
    5. Public Enemy, Apocalypse 91…The Enemy Strikes Back

    1998 BEST RAP SOLO PERFORMANCE
    1. Busta Rhymes, “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See”
    2. Missy Elliott, “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”
    3. The Notorious B.I.G., “Hypnotize”
    4. Will Smith, “Men in Black”
    5. LL Cool J, “Ain’t Nobody”

    1999 BEST RAP SOLO PERFORMANCE
    1. Lauryn Hill, “Lost Ones”
    2. Busta Rhymes, “Dangerous”
    3. JAY-Z, “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)”
    4. Will Smith, “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It”
    5. Wyclef Jean, “Gone till November”

Those Ludacris wins from 2007 are a fucking joke, especially when you consider the fact that albums like Food & Liquor and King and songs like “What You Know”, “Ridin” and “Kick, Push” were nominated. I would have voted for Lupe in Rap Album and T.I. in Rap Song.

The fact that Kanye wasn’t even nominated for AOTY for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is simply mind blowing

I’m not really into rap music and objectively hate Kanye due to his problematic behavior but MBDTF is in my Top 5 best albums of 2010s. I don’t get it why it got snubbed for AOTY, was it because of Watch the Throne?

    For you consideration :

Album of the year : folklore
Record of the year : Don't Start Now
Song of the year : cardigan
Best new artist : Phoebe Bridgers

Best pop vocal album : folklore
    Best rap album : Alfredo
Best alternative music album : Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Best progressive R&B album : Ungodly Hour

    RAP SOLO – 1998
Will Smith “Men in Black” – WINNER

Busta Rhymes – “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See”
    LL Cool J – “Ain’t Nobody”
Missy Elliott – “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”
    The Notorious B.I.G. – “Hypnotize”

My pick would have been Hypnotize with second being either Missy or Busta.

    1994 RAP SOLO

Dr. Dre “Let Me Ride” – WINNER
    Paperboy – “Ditty”
Sir Mix-a-Lot – “Just Da Pimpin’ In Me”
    MC Lyte – “Ruffneck”
LL Cool J – “Stand by Your Man”

I would have picked MC Late for Ruffneck

    2001 RAP SOLO

Eminem “The Real Slim Shady” – WINNER
    Common – “The Light”
DMX – “Party Up (Up in Here)”
    Mystikal – “Shake Ya Ass”
Nelly – “Country Grammar (Hot Shit)”

All of these songs were everywhere. I would not have been mad if Common or DMX won.

    2005 Rap Duo or Group

The Black Eyed Peas “Let’s Get It Started” – WINNER
Beastie Boys — “Ch-Check It Out”
The Roots — “Don’t Say Nuthin”
Snoop Dogg & Pharrell — “Drop It Like It’s Hot”
    Terror Squad — “Lean Back”

Drop It Like It’s Hot should have won this one

Yep, this should have been an easy first win for Snoop, with only “Lean Back” as the spoiler. I really hate when non-rap voters touch this field because that’s clearly what happened here.

    2006 Rap/Sung

    Linkin Park and Jay-Z “Numb/Encore” – WINNER
Gwen Stefani featuring Eve – “Rich Girl”
Destiny’s Child featuring T.I. and Lil Wayne – “Soldier”
Common featuring John Legend and Kanye West – “They Say”
Ciara featuring Missy Elliott – “1, 2 Step”

I agree with this winner. Numb/Encore is a reason why I wish this category existed in the 80s so that Walk This Way by Run DMC & Aerosmith could have won this award.

Interesting that Jay Z won over Beyonce in this category.

Honey. Linkin Park and Jay-Z “Numb/Encore” is an awful winner.  That crap should NOT have even been nominated.  YUCK!

Ciara feat. Missy Elliot “1, 2 Step” or Gwen Stefani feat. Eve “Rich Girl” should’ve won.
