Album, Record, and Song of the Year are currently available for predictions. More will be added, of course, as the rest of the eligibility period progresses. Let me know if you notice any glaring omissions. If it hasn’t been released yet, I’ll only include an album or song that has been announced. No rumored projects.
I hope to work on Best New Artist sooner this year, but it seems like slim pickings this year and you never know when you’re gonna get an Arooj Aftab in there. So it might take some time. I’m open to suggestions there as well.

I just added “All Too Well.” Might take some time for it to show up in the predictions center. Not sure what its eligibility will be as an extended, re-recorded version of a song she released in 2012, but we can cross that bridge when we get to it.

Love For Sale a cover album of old music was literally just nominated. Red TV at-least is written by swift and features 9 new tracks!

The grammys confirmed a while back that they’re eligible.
The only real question is whether or not All Too Well will be eligible for SOTY since it’s almost 5 minutes longer than the original and whether or not Taylor will submit, since the original Red won nothing.

ReplyCopy URLApril 14, 2022 at 11:26 am #1204916856Grammy rules for a “song” (composition): “A song must comprise melody and lyrics to be eligible in a songwriting category and must have been released on a recording for the first time, or achieved prominence for the first time, during the current eligibility year.”
Time will tell if the song’s inclusion on the original Red, which was nominated for multiple Grammys, disqualifies it on the grounds of having “achieved prominence for the first time,” and if so, if the additional lyrics from the 10-minute version requalify it.
Daniel, I would also suggest adding Red (Taylor’s Version) to AOTY since she has not indicated that she doesn’t plan to submit it for consideration. Notably, her rationale for not submitting Fearless (Taylor’s Version) last year was that it had already won multiple Grammys, and Red won none in 2014.

Yeah the rules for this song in particular is tricky but I think it has been stated here that the song is going to be eligible.
Like if Taylor is indeed going to be submitting a re-recording at some point we probably would make a presumption that it will be RED that’ll be submitted. (It’s all presumptions so I wouldn’t rely on them much) It’s still up to her.
ReplyCopy URLApril 18, 2022 at 3:35 pm #1204922420I’ve added “Red (Taylor’s Version)” to Album of the Year. I hope she decides not to submit it though. Even though the original didn’t win any Grammys, it would still be like double-dipping to submit a remake of her own work. Submitting newly recorded or extended songs doesn’t bother me, but “Red” getting another chance as an album seems greedy to me for an artist who has won AOTY three times.

Thanks, Daniel. I completely agree by the way.
ReplyCopy URLApril 18, 2022 at 6:03 pm #1204922605Honey, totally agree! Everyone knows Taylor Swift is thirsty for Grammys (especially Album of the Year). She will probably submit Red (Taylor’s Version). YUCK!

ALL TOO WELL: THE SHORT FILMTaylor Swift, Liz Rose and their publishing companies, are telling us that these different versions are all the same song, with alternate titles, covered under the same music publishing license.
The same can be found on the BMI site, where all versions have the same BMI Work ID.
Unless Taylor and her representatives contradict this at some point in the future, we should take her word for it.
Some people have mentioned “achieved prominence for the first time”, but I don’t think that rule was written to allow a song that previously charted on the Hot 100, was already part of a multi-platinum AOTY nominated album and had a Grammy performance broadcast to millions of people around the world.
The album is different of course, these are “new recordings” so no problem there. The same is true for ROTY, no problem.
Having said that, it’s Taylor Swift and the Grammys will probably let her do whatever she wants.
