Surprise! I decided to launch the event today. The eligibility period is almost half over so there are already plenty of contenders and I’m sure plenty more to be announced and released in the months to come.
So far it’s just Album of the Year. Other general field categories will come later.
Let me know if I’m missing anybody. I won’t add any rumored upcoming releases. Only albums that have announced titles and/or release dates.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 18, 2023 at 1:41 am #1205307262Opening the predictions this early is going mean that many albums released in the later part of the season will just get lost at the bottom of the list while early releases get more attention.
Not too dissimilar to the Grammys where there is an alphabetical order bias (by artist name) in the list of submitted albums.

February 18, 2023 at 7:29 am #1205307405This time last year we didn’t have many options so many included Good Morning Gorgeous and Music of the Spheres in their predicted top 10s only to remove them later in 2022 when bigger albums came out. I personally never gave up on Coldplay, but I should’ve trusted MJB more. lmao
I wonder who’s going to be the Coldplay/MJB of 2024.

Maybe Bruce?

Maybe if he benefited from alphabetical advantage, but he doesn’t.

Last year the opposite was true. The only Album of the Year nominees that weren’t predicted by our odds were ABBA and Mary J. Blige, which were both early releases.
