Since SOMEBODY made a thread during a time where the other one wasn’t filled, the title is changed around a little bit.
Will the Grammys find a way to slice and dice the rule regarding BNA so that Cardi can at least have one win on lock?
I Like It- Cardi B
In My Feelings- Drake (if he were smart)
Meant To Be- Bebe Rexha ft. Florida Georgia Line
The Middle- Maren Morris
Perfect Duet- Ed Sheeran & Beyoncé
APESHIT- The Carters
Psycho- Post Malone
This is America- Childish Gambino
SOTY is a little tougher for me.

I think they’ll change it to accommodate Cardi since she’s pretty much the favourite to win.
Also, I’m pretty sure Post will submit ‘Rockstar’ over ‘Psycho’ as it was a much bigger hit. However, I don’t see him getting into any of the general field categories, apart from maybe Best New Artist (if he’s eligible).August 5, 2018 at 11:00 am #1202603084

Better Now is also an option for ROTY, and probably his strongest option for SOTY out of his three big hits.
Rockstar was bigger than Psycho, but the BRP may be wary about nominating a song with a chorus about “fucking hoes and popping pillies,” even in ROTY. Psycho was bigger on pop radio and it’s inoffensive, so it could be a better choice. His submissions will be interesting.August 5, 2018 at 1:34 pm #1202603137
Some possible SOTY candidates besides the commonly mentioned (The Middle, This Is America, etc.):
- Florence + The Machine – Hunger (no commentary here aside from the fact that it’s just a great song and they’re overdue for recognition in the 3 main categories)
- Jason Mraz – Have It All (past category nominee)
- Macklemore feat. Kesha – Good Old Days (Macklemore is a past category nominee; song is wistful/nostalgic and has had longevity on radio)
- Shawn Mendes – In My Blood (Mendes’s most mature song yet, and the allusions to anxiety/depression could give it an edge)
- A Tribe Called Quest – Dis Generation (or something else from their latest album; could be a way to make up for last year’s egregious snub)
- U2 – Love Is Bigger than Anything in Its Way (4x category nominees and 2x winners)
These aren’t necessarily predictions, before anybody comes for me. Just throwing some ideas out there.August 5, 2018 at 1:59 pm #1202603143
“Nice for What” was definitely overshadowed by “In My Feelings,” which also feels bigger than “God’s Plan.” It’ll be interesting to see how Drake’s label submits in all categories. They can submit all tracks and let the panels in each categories pick what they want in. But I feel like “In My Feelings” will probably be in all eligible categories.August 5, 2018 at 3:06 pm #1202603161
Is it possible that he could cancel himself out if he submits all three?August 5, 2018 at 3:26 pm #1202603167
No, Drake won’t cancel himself out. His songs are too big to be ignored in this shitty year. Voters will just pick the one they like.August 5, 2018 at 3:56 pm #1202603177
yeah he has the two most dominant #1s of the period.August 5, 2018 at 4:37 pm #1202603189
Submitting all 3 would be a stupid idea as it would cause a vote split.August 5, 2018 at 5:49 pm #1202603210
Didn’t Beyoncé submit “Halo” and “If I Were a Boy” to ROTY?
I also think “If I Were a Boy” and “Single Ladies” were submitted to SOTY as well.
It has happened before.
A vote split isn’t necessarily a thing with the general field. It’s very possible for two or more songs by one artist to enter the top 15/20. It would be up to the panelists to pick out of the contenders.August 5, 2018 at 7:45 pm #1202603234
It’d be smart to submit nice for what and in my feelings for record of the year. God’s plan can settle for song because it’s not really (record of the year) material to meAugust 5, 2018 at 7:51 pm #1202603235
This could be the best scenerio for him
ROY-In my feelings
Rap song- God’s Plan
Rap performance- Nice for what
Rap/Sung -In my feelings
Music Video- God’s Plan
Not submissions just outcomes on nomination day.
