Taylor Swift for Fearless. Beyoncé or Lady Gaga deserved.

I was greatly disappointed by 1989’s and 25’s wins, even while I think they’re great albums

Lemonade’s loss is especially frustrating because she should’ve had everything going for her:

    • Massive acclaim and sheer quality
    • Political relevancy
    • Commercial success
    • Cross-genre appeal
    • An overdue narrative after 2015
    • Great aesthetics
    • Positive and consistent media attention

Of course that doesn’t make TPAB, which was actually more acclaimed and (arguably) more relevant, less deserving. Also:

    • Beck in AOTY over Beyoncé (2015)
    • Beyoncé’s loss in Urban Contemporary (2015)
    • Mumford and Sons in AOTY over Frank Ocean (2013)
    • Bruno’s GF sweep over Melodrama in Album, “HUMBLE.” in Record and “4:44” in Song
    • Ed Sheeran in both Pop Categories when Lorde wasn’t even nominated (2018)
    • TIA in SOTY (2019; I can’t say I’m upset at rap’s first win, but that it should’ve happened ages ago and this song was simply undeserving)
    • Macklemore for all wins (2014)
    • Lady Antebellum over Taylor Swift in Country Album (2012)
    • Meghan Trainor in BNA (2016)
    • SZA’s loss in Urban Contemporary (2018)
    • Hotline Bling, especially in Rap/Sung (2017)
    • Not really the question, but Florence + the Machine never winning

I’ll add more as I think of them. Very similar to abelfenty’s list. Some wins are just undeniably bad.

I don’t know why everyone was so upset when Beyonce lost for “Lemonade”. She hasn’t written a single song for that album- all of the words were other people’s visions (even Becky with the good hair). I mean how can the album be personal and whatever shit if you just sing on it. Adele deserved in 2017, same with Beck who produced and wrote 100% of Morning Phase while Beyonce has never ever written a single song! Beyonce is seriously so over-rated. I get she’s a good performer but other than that she’s not creative nor a talented musician when it comes to crafting a song so yeah, she is by far over-awarded with Grammys (23) if you conpare it to her actual musical talent!

I stan Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran who actually write all of their songs unlike Beyonce.

Wow! You’re in the recording studio sessions with Beyoncé? Amazing! Please, please, please tell me what sound she’s doing for her upcoming studio album!

In addition to many of the ones already mentioned:

    • The Fame losing AOTY. Even though I’m not a fan of Gaga, and actually a fan of Beyoncé and Taylor, The Fame was the best album out of the bunch of nominees, and truly shifted the late 00s/early 2010 Pop scene to go even more electronic/dance. Gaga was also an amazing breakout star that year.
    • Speak Now losing Best Country Album. Nothing to say. Speak Now is just excellence.
    • Lemonade losing Best Music Film to The Beatles documentary. No words to explain this loss.

I wasn’t majorly upset or distraught, but H.E.R. losing to Dua Lipa was incredibly disappointing. A full blown multi-instrumentalist and musical prodigy losing to a model-turned-singer with an average voice, who didn’t even write the song she’s best known for. What sense does that make?

Go check the interviews from songwriters who worked on Lemonade- they all presented the demos to Beyoncé who then sent the demos to other songwriters to finish the songs- she got a credit because she is Beyoncè lol. She even got the writing credit for Perfect Duet
