https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiU81KIRZ_QJuly 18, 2019 at 2:51 pm #1202983725It’s being funded by Nashville excutives. Always read the liner notes.
Plus if they nominated the atrocious Meant to Be they should have no problem nominating The Git Up, specically to shake off the rumours of country people being “racists”.
Who it’s being funded by and the artist’s ethnicity don’t mean a thing. It’s not going to be nominated. And Darius Rucker has won a Grammy in the country field, so I don’t think they have a race problem.
You may not like “Meant to Be,” or “Body Like a Back Road,” or whatever mainstream songs have been nominated in the country field, but those were never considered joke/meme songs, and they were recognized at all the major country award shows (which I can assure you “The Git Up” will not be). There’s a clear difference between those songs and the country equivalent of the “Cha Cha Slide.”
Plus, you’re also forgetting that the country committee often favors lesser-known material and many big hits get completely snubbed.
