Jaime and Hyperspace are both competing in Eng Album and Alt Album so that’s going to be interesting to watch. Beck usually takes Eng Album and Alt Album but I’ve noticed that Alabama Shakes won both once so that favors Brittany. She also has multi-genre support this year so we most likely won’t experience a Beck upset!

Vampire Weekend lost to Gary Clark Jr. last year, so I would say no.

Idk. Phoebe Bridgers definitely has a lot of passion. I think she is the one that can upset Fiona, but that category is pretty strong. Bet the producers won’t even televise it but would probably televise a third-tier category instead.
ReplyCopy URLDecember 31, 2020 at 10:40 pm #1203955924I actually had a thought that Phoebe could go 3-4/4. She’s performed Kyoto everywhere she could which increases familiarity among voters. Alt Album has a trend of going to albums that are high on year-end aggregate and Punisher is #2 (though behind FTBC so that’s a threat). As for BNA, she’s the only Alt/rock act nominated and easily benefits from vote splitting. She could also garner some Pop, Country, and Americana votes for being a singer-songwriter with an album consisting of those influences.

Phoebe could upset somewhere though.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 2, 2021 at 9:41 am #1203957897I have Phoebe 3/4, losing BNA to Megan. She’s performing everywhere and Punisher doing the 2nd best on YE lists is really impressive. Despite the acclaim for her, I cannot see Fiona winning after that interview
ReplyCopy URL! The claim in this post is disputed
January 2, 2021 at 10:02 am #1203957924I don’t think that interview affects Fiona’s chances much. But competing with two other women certainly does.

That interview will do nothing to Fiona. If Fiona loses, it’s because she was always losing. Her interview wasn’t even that controversial or got that much attention.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 2, 2021 at 10:34 am #1203957966I could see Fiona sweeping or going 0/3. She’s a known and respected artist. It’s the most acclaimed album of the year. But it’s still “divisive” with the general public. It’s still a rather “odd” and “challenging” album. While Fiona has put almost no effort into promo. I see Tame Impala or Brittany benefitting before Phoebe though.
