Does anyone remember in which performance category The Climb was submitted in 2010? Was she accepted in Best Female Country Vocal Performance? Or did she only submit PITUSA in the equivalent Pop category?

and rock voters may be extra harsh tbh.

- The White LotusOctober 26, 2021 at 7:37 pm #1204542150Wrecking Ball was submitted for the 2013/2014 season while Bangerz was submitted for the 2014/15 one. In 2013 Miley exploded but was still building her new name to the industry so I think there wasnt enough time for voters to consider her besides the VMA polemics.
In 2014 she submitted We Can’t Stop alongside the album, probably cause the superior song was submitted the year before already. So Bangerz got the album nom as it had solified its name, but We Can’t Stop was probably too old and Pop Solo was stacked that year.
So her only Grammy nomination was good combination of the momentum that was already fading.Yeah I had to go back and look at the timeline for the Bangerz era and it makes sense why “Wrecking Ball” was snubbed. Bad timing. In a perfect world Miley would’ve gotten more love for that song. Yet I can’t complain too much. The Best Pop Vocal Album nomination was the perfect accumulation of the success she had during that time. Even if it was fading. The fact that Bangerz only had 3 singles is atrocious. There were so many worthy songs that could’ve been released as hits. I wonder why her label dropped the ball.

completely forgot they existed for a minute. oops

i hope she gets nominated in alternative even though i didn’t like the album, honestly
ReplyCopy URLOctober 27, 2021 at 6:15 am #1204542630“The Climb” is one of her best songs too and I could’ve seen it getting in somewhere too. Probably Best Song Written for Visual Media.
It actually was nominated in this category but was rescinded after Hollywood Records put forward a request to withdraw it from submission after its two songwriters revealed they had written prior, as it was already existed in circulating demos before being commissioned for Hannah Montana: The Movie.
The 6th place vote finisher, Karen O’s “All Is Love” from Where the Wild Things Are was nominated in it’s place.

ReplyCopy URLOctober 30, 2021 at 6:28 am #1204548280I think Big Red Machine’s album might get in Best Alternative, considering how well liked Bon Iver is… I could be wrong though.

They’ve since released a live (better) version, so at least we know it’s eligible next year.
