Total agreement, One thing I have always liked about the Grammys is them recognising Weezer on a regular basis. I even liked Pacific Daydream despite everyone hating that.

<p style=”text-align: right;”>Japanese Breakfast and Halsey were splendid surprises. I am surprised Greta Van Fleet was not nominated after how well they were received on their debut. I honestly thought they were going to become rock field darlings lol. Sad about Wolf Alice but the fact that they didnt get a nomination doesnt change that its a great album.</p>

Maneskin were robbed. “Beggin’” is a jam. I hear it on the radio all the time. Miley was unsurprisingly snubbed too. Grammy voters just don’t like her. Which is a shame because Plastic Hearts deserves recognition. Foo Fighters missing Album of the Year in a line up of 10 is also puzzling. Anyway, congrats to Halsey on receiving her first solo nod.

I love halsey but i didn’t love her last album, still love the fact she got recognition after years of snubs. Alternative is more receptive to mainstream artists than Rock… so that explains Miley getting left out. I’m also surprised at Rock but their voters seem very stingy… a lot of the biggest rock/alt songs are always left out, they like pretentiously favor commercially unsuccessful material sometimes >.<

Conflicted between Halsey and St. Vicent. The latter is a 2x Grammy winner but she seemed to tank this year with her songs in the rock field and the album seems rather forgotten. It also doesn’t help that most people, including critics, agree her past two projects were better.

Then there’s Halsey, who is more recent and might have an advantage due to harder campaigning. However, they might not be as known to the alternative voters as St. Vincent, who could easily be namechecked. I do think there could be a lot of passion for If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, especially with Trent and Atticus involved. I also kinda wonder if the old voters in the rock field might be more inclined to vote for the album due to Nine Inch Nails.

Rooting for Halsey though, that St. Vincent album was a huge snore.

definitely not the only one who thinks this, but this year’s alt album category is SICK. honestly, all of them deserve to be nominated and EVEN WIN. if there’s gonna be a tie for the grammy’s this year, REALLY hoping it’s for this category.

I’m torn on whether to predict Foo Fighters, Chris Cornell, or Black Pumas for Performance and Album. Paul McCartney is also a strong contender for Album, but I’m thrown off by his Performance miss.

How many sympathy awards and nominations does Cornell need? He would have won his first posthumous award in 2018 if Leonard Cohen wasn’t nominated, then he actually does comfortably win his posthumous award in 2019.

This what the Grammy CEO said

” I see the Rock nominations — our voters have nominated some incredible artists, but it tends to skew a little toward [heritage] ones, so we’re going to spend some time in that community listening and learning and making sure we get that right as well. We’ve got amazing ones but I’d also love to see some more younger and newer acts coming up through there”

I think he like everyone else thought that Maneskin, Greta Van Fleet, Miley Cyrus, Willow etc, very young and current performers in their prime would get nominated or at least have a balanced field, and instead he sees old, past their prime nominees, that didn’t need the nomination.
