Paul McCartney might benefit from the lack of committees. Nick Cave has never been shown love by the Grammys and even though overdue narrative could work in his favor the rock and alt fields seem too packed already. I hardly see either happening tbh.

FYC | 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards:

    Arlo Parks
    - Best New Artist
    - Song Of The Year, Best Rock Song: "Hurt"
    - Best Alternative Music Album: Collapsed In Sunbeams

    Jazmine Sullivan
    - Best R&B Album: Heaux Tales

    Tyler, The Creator
    - Best Rap Album: Call Me If You Get Lost

    um no wtf

Motörhead won his only Grammy with a Metallica song and Metallica won with a Queen cover. Grammy voters really love covers and this year they don’t have committee.

sorry i interpreted your comment as you could see all THREE getting nominations at the same time for metallica covers

It wouldn’t be very weird. In 2015 two songs from a Ronnie James Dio tribute album were nominated for best metal performance.

Get real!  Best Rock Song is NOT most likely going to John Mayer’s “Last Train Home.”  He is old news.

    Maneskin- Beggin’

Is this even eligible? The version that’s becoming a hit a live recording from when they competed on X Factor Italia, that first appeared on an EP released December 2017. As far as am aware they’ve haven’t released any newer versions (live etc) since.

Yeah, I’m 50/50 on if Olivia Rodrigo can get into the Rock categories… if she does, it will only be in Rock Performance (and not song).

Why? Rock Song seems way likelier.

Song categories are typically where hits/mainstream songs get slotted (“Bood Up”, “Ain’t It Fun”, “The Bones”…).

Best Rock Performance is also slightly more stacked due to some covers like “Beggin” and “Heart of Glass” being eligible there.

Add to that the fact that “Brutal” will be super high on the ballot for Song (B) yet a little low for Performance (R), and it seems like it makes more sense there.

    FYC - Lil Nas X
MONTERO - AOTY, Best Pop Vocal Album
MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) - ROTY, SOTY, Best Pop Solo Perf., Best Music Video
INDUSTRY BABY (w/ Jack Harlow) - Best Melodic Rap Perf., Best Rap Song
ONE OF ME (w/ Elton John) - Best Pop Duo/Group Perf.

New CHVRCHES and Halsey projects seem promising. They both could be last minute contenders in Alternative Album, unless they get moved over to Pop.

Honey, Halsey is not happening in Alternative Album or Pop Vocal Album, let alone at the 2022 Grammys at all.

It won’t be nominated but Halsey’s new album should be submitted for Best Rock Album

It’s more rock than some albums that usually get nominated in this category.

By the way I think John Mayer’s album should be in Pop.
