    He meant that he was poor growing up. He’s talking about the fact that he lived above a pub that would vibrate at night which wouldn’t allow him to sleep, he’s talking about the fact that he had to save for months to be able to buy a t-shirt, that he started working at 12 years old and worked steady jobs consistently until he was 16 and was put in a band and his life changed. He’s talking about the fact that the first time they told him he could take his outfit home he cried because he couldn’t believe it. He’s talking about his mom working two jobs and him running baths for her when she came home in the middle of the night exhausted. These are all stories he’s told before.

    Go look at the nepotism stories for British artists’. Most British celebs went to Eton with royalty (like Eddy Redmayne) or their family is such old money that entire countries are asking for reparations (Benedict Cumberbatch).

    Getting over the British class system is nearly impossible, and only a miracle pulled him and his family out of that hole.
