Just a little info about Harrys performance yesterday. One of his dancer said that this rotation platform they were on, was rotating in the wrong direction and not the way they rehearsed. They had to improvise the whole thing the other way round. So that may be one of the reasons he sounded so off & nervous especially in the beginning.

“This year’s Trevor Noah-hosted Grammys drew 12.4 million total viewers, up 30 percent from last year to mark the ceremony’s largest audience since January 2020, its last pre-pandemic outing.”
Probably the effect of last year’s well-done ceremony.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 1:46 pm #1205294663I thought the show was incredible. It exceeded last years ceremony in every way. Even the nominees were MILES better than last year. Bad Bunny opening the show was a great start of the night. Lizzo, Brandi, Kacey & Bonnie’s Tribute were probably the best performances. I was quite lost with the first Half of the Hip Hop 50 Tribute, but once Queen Latina & Missy hit the stage, It was all better from there.
The stage design was beautiful but holy hell the seating was awful. They all looked so squished up against each other and there was very little space for them to even move. They should seriously bring the format of having theatre seating like in previous years. And also they should bring the format where you could see each of the nominees on camera before their award is announced. That just increases the anticipation. I understand that the nomination slots have increased but it is still possible.
A far as the winners:
I was extremely happy with all of the wins, except Harry’s. I liked Harrys House but it was nowhere near better than Renaissance, 30, Or Mr. Morale. Im Sorry, but it wasn’t. It lacked production elements that Adele, Beyonce & Kendrick succeeded in. If there is anything I learned from the Best Pop Vocal Album category, is that it usually goes to the albums with the biggest rollouts and Harrys was the biggest one nevertheless. So that win kind of made sense. It was so unusual seeing Adele lose. It didn’t feel nor look right, especially when she kept loosing to an undeserving album. But I am over the moon with her Best Pop Solo Performance win. That one was so well deserved. I am so happy Lizzo won. It was well earned. About Damn Time is a great record that perfectly represents the year. Beautifully well produced and her vocal performance was great. The Grammys this year was similar to 2021 where they spread the love to everyone. Beyonce, Bad Bunny, Adele, Lizzo, Kendrick, Samara, Sam & Kim wins were all so well deserved.
Overall the ceremony had its strengths it hadn’t had in years. It was entertaining, you couldn’t keep your eyes off it. It was suspenseful and thrilling until the very last second. It perfectly represented what 2022 in music was. Great ceremony.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 1:51 pm #1205294670Beyonce can seemingly care less that she lost AOTY its her fans that get pissed off. Same for Taylor and Adele fans. Will throw Lizzo fans in the group too. Artists having fun and do not care and fans getting irrationally mad baffles me
Considering Jay-Z’s statement on why Renaissance was the most deserving AOTY, I don’t think that’s true. They definitely care. There’s a reason why all these artists showed up. Never underestimate the need for people’s validation.
But I also think Beyoncé has no ire against the Grammys for her losses and is grateful for being the most awarded act.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 1:53 pm #1205294673My thoughts: the show was great. Star studded. Fairly well executed. More awards. Except AOTY, the winners were all palatable too. I liked last year’s performances better but it was a great show nonetheless. Grammys is back on track.
I also feel like the recent sharing of wealth is something pushed by the new CEO. It feels like he put out a big memorandum to all the voters to spread the love. I don’t mind at all.

Last year they didn’t spread the love though. Silk Sonic won 4/4 and if their album was eligible they would have won 6/6

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 4:14 pm #1205294897Beyonce’s nom in Best Dance/Electronic Album felt so out of place among the other nominees when they were being announced on the main telecast. That album belongs in Best Progressive R&B Album, what was exactly the point of moving it to another field?
February 6, 2023 at 5:01 pm #1205294955Honey, alphabetical advantage is NOT the only thing that helped Mary J. Blige get in Album of the Year. She is a veteran that is highly respected in the industry. Mary was overdue for a Best Album nomination.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 5:50 pm #1205295033Sometimes I wish I didn’t believe that the Grammys were rigged and really believed that there was honesty and democracy. But then I remember Beyoncé winning in a field that she was never nominated for or was never part of. Hard to believe that the world is really fair
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 5:57 pm #1205295040Kim Petras’ victory was everything to me. My girlfriend and partner from the sign of Virgo has turned it around by !!!!. From an entire shelved Republic Records era to #1 on the UK Hot 100 #1 and 1 Grammy. The future definitely starts now
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 7:03 pm #1205295089Honey, I’m shook at Chris Brown. She really thought she had a chance at winning Best R&B Album.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 6, 2023 at 7:48 pm #1205295121One thing I find very funny is that a lot of these controversies come from male artists who have won at least 1 Grammy. A female artist for very little if she says anything crooked about the Grammys is boycotted for the rest of her life. It is during these hours that we see with our own eyes that there is no equality in this cruel world.
