Yes, I too think we overestimate too much the love/hate relationship between artists and the Grammys. Their career revolves around more important things and the awards for many will be nothing more than an add-on to other of their accomplishments. The Weeknd’s reaction was over the top but justifiable under how implausible it is to this day that someone who was doing so well has lost all his chances. I don’t think it represents what the rest of the artists think.

I agree with Goldwing. Many of you are speaking for these artists when you have no idea what they think/value and just ascribe them your own thoughts. I think no big artist on the ballot this year has hinted to any ‘protest’ or ‘issue’ with the grammys, and if they attend/perform is just a matter of whether they think it will help their career / laziness / timing with other commitments. Sometimes it is really not that deep.

Considering the lineup is completely lackluster this year, I hope that they at least give people enough time for their speeches and air a few more categories maybe, that’s assuming enough people attend in the first place.

CBS still doesn’t know the audience prefer watching categories and speeches than random performances.

I enjoy performances, but I agree they shouldn’t displace the awards/speeches. The lack of star quality performers doesn’t help either.

Spoiler alert, Ariana, Megan, and Harry were not in Special. In fact, there were no features at all.

Spoiler, Harry didn’t release any music until almost an entire year later, and definitely not on  the summer of 2021. In fact, his album wasn’t even mastered by the end of summer, let alone in May 2021 (he was still writing songs).

Other wildly wrong guesses: Harry would be featured on Megan’s album, Harry and Miley would collab on her lead single, Harry would have a female collab on his album (heavily hinted it was Stevie Nicks).

Those “insiders” just throw a bunch of random info, one of them ends up being right so people forget about everything else. The only one who had actual info about Grammys was that one from ATRL (King Kylie or smething like that). Never forget when they broke the Coldplay in AOTY news.
