I still don’t understand why is Jay Z performing at the 2023 Grammys
They couldn’t book another rappers that truly represented the Rap/Hip Hop music of the past year?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 6:47 pm #1205274088They released the same as last Sunday. Grammy campaign is completely focused on the AOTY categories and treating it like one of those famous fights in usa that is broadcasted on TV
Did they do the same last year for AOTY? Imagine doing all that only for Jon Batiste to win lol.

God Did is up for 3 awards including Song Of The Year and he had the most hyped verse on that song thats why. The initial report was that he’d be performing alongside DJ Khaled, whose album of the same name is also nominated for Best Rap album.
I’d prefer Kendrick Lamar personally but Jay-Z is an excellent live performer so thats an ok consolation prize

January 29, 2023 at 7:00 pm #1205274116You need to understand that the Grammy Awards are not Billboard music awards. Why not give the AOTY to a talented Oscar and BAFTA winning jazz musician and CBS employee?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 7:10 pm #1205274134I’ve got a feeling the ratings are going to be even more abysmal than usual. Bad Bunny was a good get for them though.
Yeah, every year they’ll get lower, but performers have nothing to do with it. People don’t watch TV anymore. I don’t even own a TV.
Bad Bunny is not a bigger get than Harry or Jay Z in terms of attention. I love Benito, but he’s a very niche performer in America. If you go to pop culture forums, outside of music ones, upon reading “Bad Bunny” they think of “Bhad Bhabie”. And these are people that are atuned to pop culture. I saw it constantly the week he was on the news for throwing fans’ phones.

I think a Beyoncé, Adele or Taylor performance would definitely be solo as well. And maybe the last one to be announced to be impactful.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 7:30 pm #1205274153So why was he doing stadium shows in America and Harry was doing arena shows? If an artist who spent the whole summer with stadiums exploding with people all over America doesn’t get attention I don’t know what Harry does
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 7:32 pm #1205274158Bad Bunny has already finished the most lucrative male tour of the year without opening acts. While Harry is still on tour doing 15 shows in one arena and still not beating bad bunny

I remember last year Gaga was the last one to be announced, and the only one solo, as she was arguably the biggest artist from the lineup.
Feels like the same could happen this year with any of the 3 you mentioned being confirmed closer to the weekend.
Also considering how she likes to surprise with her moves, I wouldn’t doubt Beyoncé to go total unannounced and just show up at the Grammy stage, perhaps even opening the show.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 8:03 pm #1205274183We’ll know before an announcement if Bey is performing, cause a publication like Variety would just leak the news. Just like they did last year for the Oscars.

Tickets sold in America for their last tour:
Harry: 1,505,813
Bad Bunny: 944,068
I’m not sure why Harry chose to do arenas. But in terms of demand for tickets they’re neck and neck and Harry could’ve easily done stadiums. There’s also multiple artists who sell out big venues who aren’t in demand when it comes to the GP. The people who buy tickets for an artist are not the same than those who might tune in on a TV show (which is passive and free) for an artist.
Harry Styles is a household name, he had a huge hit that most Americans would recognize, so Harry would bring more of an audience than Bad Bunny.
Anya Taylor-Joy has great success in movies, but Salma Hayek would bring more people to watch a TV show.

World’s Hottest Tour: $314,445,480.
Love On Tour: $338,712,594 (so far)
Love On Tour has left:
- 7 stadium shows in Oceania of an average capacity of 55,000
- 6 large arena shows in Asia of an average capacity of 30,000
- 31 stadium shows in Europe of an averga capacity of 60,000
- Bonus: 3 arena shows in The Forum (an average of $3M each) and 2 arena shows in Acrisure Arena (an average of $2.5M each)
On top of having already sold more tickets in America (and Europe). Bad Bunny is only bigger in Latin America, and not in every Latin American country.
Harry is bigger in Brazil (193,735 tickets sold vs 0 Bad Bunny) and Argentina (123,942 tickets sold vs 85,345 Bad Bunny).
You’re confusing gross in a calendar year with highest grossing tours. The record keeping is done for tours, not for calendar years. Bad Bunny had two tours last year. By the time Love On Tour is over, it’ll be above $600M give or take, while both of Bad Bunny’s 2022 tours combined grossed $431,445,480
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 29, 2023 at 8:39 pm #1205274208Harry chose to play residencies at arenas instead of stadium shows; he didn’t do it because he can’t sell stadiums. He will probably be in stadiums in the US later on in 2023. In the UK and Europe, he’s already in stadiums. Sold out two nights at Wembley (80k capacity) last year and four nights this year.
