idk about this ‘gossip’ y’all always have…….. maybe they simply decided to reduce the number of performers a bit and to delay the announcement of the last batch to the last few days to try to create last minute hype since they know ppl have short attention span in the Social media era. Recording Academy topper Harvey Mason Jr. is ready for his close-up as the Grammys draw near—even as controversy swirls around the org’s alienation of numerous superstars, which has apparently severely limited options for splashy performances on the Grammy telecast. Will Mason turn things around in time? Can he right the listing Academy ship? We’ll be watching. In the meantime, HITS remains Music’s Biggest Blight.

ReplyCopy URLI hope the Grammys are not deceiving us. Because my dream is that they air more categories and get off of that many UNNECESSARY performances that no one asked for.
I think the Grammys have a “Plan B”, like a B-roster of performers that will be ready to perform in case the biggest stars won’t (example: Foo Fighters, John Legend, H.E.R., Alicia Keys, Yolanda Adams, Chris Stapleton, Jon Batiste, Cindy Lauper, etc).
These are the usual names that repeat themselves for the last 5 ceremonies.

“As for the big three — let’s just say it: Adele, Beyonce and Taylor — the status is still uncertain. Adele has Las Vegas residency concerts on the two nights before the Grammys, which makes a performance at the big show possible (she could rehearse as late as Thursday) but less likely.
Beyonce performed an elaborate set at the grand opening of the Atlantis the Royal hotel in Dubai earlier this month — for a reported $24 million — so she’s certainly rehearsed.
Swift is said to be in talks with the Grammys.”

ReplyCopy URLSo far there’s 8 announced performances (making obvious assumption Sam & Kim performing together) and Variety is teasing 3 more performances (DJ Khaled, a Loretta Lynn tribute, and Taylor). That would be 12 performances. I am fine with that total (in fact I would prefer less). Far better than the usual +17.
Still hoping Bey performs though!

No surprise on any of the names but wanted to see Gaga attend anyway.

Knowing Taylor relationship with music awards and how liked she is I can see her agreeing to “”save the show”” only if they can guarantee her a win. ReplyCopy URLSamara Joy will sing at the premiere and DOMi & JD Beck will present awards at the premiere. If this information about the BNA is true then really Samara Joy is winning.
Non-mainstream Best New Artist nominees performing during the Pre-Telecast doesn’t really mean anything. Yola & Jimmie Allen performed during the Pre-Telecast yet lost BNA. In fact, Yola surprisingly lost all of her four nominations.
That means we can’t even count on Samara Joy and DOMi & JD Beck winning their respective field nominations: Jazz Vocal Album and Contemporary Instrumental Album.
In fact, pre-telecast performers/presenters have been facing bad luck lately. If I’m not wrong, in the past two ceremonies, only Burna Boy won any Grammys.
If Samara Joy performed during the main ceremony, however, it’d be different.
