ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 8:11 am #1205279361Global event awarding only Americans and some artists from the UK and Africa and 0.1% of artists from Latin America. How global is this Grammy
The Grammys have never been and never even pretended to be a Global event. The NARAS only recognizes international music when it crosses over to the US.
Why does Musical Theater Album only nominate Broadway shows and the Rap field only recognize North American rappers? Because the majority of the voting block is American or US-based.
Viewers convinced themselves that the Grammys are “a Global event that fails to be Global” when in reality it has always been clearly American-centric.
There are 9 categories for American Roots music and just 2 for Global Music. Plus, there’s a whole different ceremony for Latin American music.

Jill Biden is probably presenting AOTY or an special award. I hope Shania’s album is great so we can see her nominated next year.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 8:26 am #1205279376The idea of Cardi B presenting Kendrick a Grammy is sending me. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them in the same place before.
Maybe he didn’t sweep and she’s presenting Melodic Rap Performance or something to God Did.

“Latto won Best Melodic Rap Performance and the Scammys are using Cardio to take a jab at Nicki. >:( The #1 mission of the music industry is to defeat Nicki Minaj! Barbz we have to do something!”I think Jill Biden may only do a bit like Michelle Obama at the 2019 Grammys. It’s early campaigning for the 2024 election.
I really hope Billy Crystal & Viola Davis being presenters doesn’t mean their wins will be televised. I mean I’ll be happy if they win and for Viola’s EGOT, but being very honest, very few people care about their respective categories.
Shania Twain & Willie Nelson seems like an odd pairing, plus I unfortunately doubt he’s going to be there. I think she’s presenting either Dolly & Reba or Miranda/Maren.

ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 8:51 am #1205279421I just knew Viola would present when she made a video for Grammys Instagram page talking about her nomination and attending. Probably will do a GF category.
It really seems theyre saving the last batch for tomorrow or friday like last year. And I still believe, considering Ben Winston last remarks, that if Beyonce performs she wont be announced and appears on stage by surprise.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 1, 2023 at 8:59 am #1205279440The more I’m thinking about it, the more it seems possible for the Best Americana Album category to be bumped to the main ceremony. With Jill Biden presenting for it. It makes sense to me at least.

Has the nominees of that particular category been announced?

The segment will feature Kacey Musgraves performing “Coal Miner’s Daughter” in a tribute to three-time GRAMMY winner and 18-time nominee Loretta Lynn; Sheryl Crow, Mick Fleetwood and Bonnie Raitt honoring three-time GRAMMY winner Christine McVie with “Songbird”; and Maverick City Music joining Quavo for “Without You” as they remember the life and legacy of Takeoff.”
