I like the element of surprise cause it’s fun but it’s not doing anything for the ratings. The general public isn’t gonna play guessing games with the grammy execs.
yeah this only been entertaining for pop stans and predicting cults like here but no mass appeal is gathered for this ceremony.

All the other nominees are already confirmed to attend (Adele, Harry, Doja, Taylor) and Dave Free would sit in for Kendrick, so they could show everyone’s faces when they announce the category live on the main show.
RM most likely would be there too to represent his group. Which means every nominee (more or less) would be present. Taylor might win this one and lose SOTY.

I personally don’t get why non-nominees need to be performing outside of tributes or In Memorial and NOT ONE Best New Artist nominee gets to perform.
no disrespect intended to Miley but it just seems like overkill. That time could be utilized to actually televise some more actual AWARD CATEGORIES

I think that currently popular songs being performed (even if they’re not nominated) is good entertainment so I don’t mind but the BNA thing is weird. They couldn’t be more disrespectful to the nominees and all because they’re … actually new/relatively unknown artists.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 10:35 am #1205283838Unpopular opinion: the surprise gimmicks are tired now. Social media spoils everything so technically nothing is a shock anymore.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 10:40 am #1205283844Do we already know which categories will be on TV? I remember that last year there was a kind of pamphlet with the order of the pre-show categories.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 10:55 am #1205283852I’m still not over this thing of zero Best New Artist nominees performing. Like, couldn’t they just put everyone together to make a tribute or something lol
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 11:05 am #1205283864Just want to point out, just because there are assigned seats for the Grammys doesn’t mean that the artists will show up. That’s where seat fillers come in.

Those usually only leak when a premiere ceremony attendee takes a pic and post online. Until then we only guess and wait. The only exception I believe was during the 2021 pandemic ceremony when Grammys posted themselves.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 11:18 am #1205283881No nominees in the main show because the winner will sing in the pre-show, it’s so obvious. Meanwhile, she, samara joy tours the CBS shows, it’s so obvious. She is definitely on every Grammy schedule except the main ceremony.

There was a short period where it would be posted the night before the awards, but they don’t do that anymore.
I would like the Grammys to take a page out of the Emmy book and break the pre-telecast into two nights: Friday and Saturday.

she is on every grammy schedule cause shes an upcoming jazz artist who’s enjoying the opportunity of exposure she otherwise wouldnt have without this nomination. it’s not really “obvious” she will win (even if i want to) because many premiere ceremony performers end up losing in recent years but accept to perform for the lack of better offers.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 4, 2023 at 11:33 am #1205283902She is from the same record label as last year’s AOTY winner. Jazz is a giant voting block within the academy. She definitely looks like she will win the two categories she is competing in.
