If there were committees, ROSALÍA would be a factor. But without them, she stands no chance.

On a straight vote, it’s time to ultimately forget our niche/underground faves. Unless their name starts with an A/B and they have a great track record at the Grammys (e.g.: Bon Iver), they don’t stand a chance.

Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, etc. fans need to hear this the most.

i think thats b/c Phineas was counted as a producer, not an artist w Billie’s wins (WWAFA,WDWG?, BG, EIW), but yea the BNA eligibility rules have been bs af for quite some time

Thanks for clarifying! I think the lack of transparency around the committees was definitely a problem, but it’s a shame they won’t nominate artists like Miley or Rosalía in favor of names like Justin Bieber 🙁

I have literally no idea what to do with Encanto. Frozen missed pop solo and AOTY but it was a really competitive year (4/5 songs in that lineup are now diamond and the only one that isn’t is 9x platinum) and the gf still had a panel and 5 nominees at that stage. I guess it all depends on whether or not you think Frozen would have made a 10 nominee straight vote lineup. I’ll probably do pop duo + gf but I would not be surprised if it gets relegated to just film.

The only time movie songs/abums have gotten into the general field recently were Black Panther (AOTY, SOTY, ROTY)  and A Star Is Born (SOTY 2x, ROTY)

and those both had Grammy darling artists at the center. That plus Encanto will be over a year old by the time voting starts. It’ll probably win Song for Visual Media but call me skeptical about anything above that.
