BNA is so weak this year. Hopefully academy leans heavy on “non-commerical” acts – who predicted Arooj Aftab last time? she’s actually insanely talented!

The other problem with the expansion of 10 nominees is that Arooj and Baby Keem were the last ones on the list and honestly they are much better than The Kid Laroi or Saweetie. How many talented artists have lost their chance over the years because they were not popular enough? Of course, instead of expansion, the solution is for academia to stop giving too much attention to mainstream artists. The panels served that purpose but they also had their drawbacks and didn’t prevent bad choices from sneaking into the final roster.

    Hi.

“Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy still needs to be added to the prediction center. It’s officially a hit.

Too competitive for Pop, but could be a Song of the Year contender.

I don’t see why Bieber or Doja would skip out on submitting their singles though. Woman and Ghost are highly competitive not just in Pop but in the GF as well. I actually think Woman will get in Pop Solo easy.

    Pop Solo:

    Adele – Easy On Me
Beyoncé – Break My Soul/Summer Renaissance
    Justin Bieber – Ghost
    Doja Cat – Woman
    Lizzo – About Damn Times
Harry Styles – As It Was

    Alternates:
    Billie Eilish – TV
    Steve Lacy – Bad Habit
Taylor Swift – All too Well

I think Silk Sonic should submit “Fly As Me” to Pop Duo/Group. They will easily win.

Silvana Estrada + Best New Artist nomination = NOT happening

Last year, would you say Arooj Aftab + BNA nom. could happen?

    Expect non-mainstream nominees this year.

I have never thought about that. They could definitely be nominated!

I expected Bad Habit to be placed in R&B Performance/Song since Steve usually gets nominated in that field

Arooj Aftab had as much exposure as Silvana Estrada had amongst music nerds, but Arooj’s nomination was a result of her very advantageous ballot position.

Silvana’s not in a bad position but you can’t compare A to E.

Cold Heart would definitely be submitted over that britney collab if it came down to it, i don’t think it would be as successful as Cold Heart

And I 100% agree. I’m not comparing Arooj to Silvana – I’m just saying “unexpected” non-mainstream & non-english artists could show up in the nominations.

“Bad Habit” is not an R&B song and I doubt R&B radio would touch this. Pop would be the proper submission for it.

Is “Bad Habit” pop though? It’s more Alternative leaning if anything.

I think by this time Ghost is already well forgotten.

Get real!  “Enemy” is NOT the frontrunner in Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.  The delusion is astronomical.
