I think if Steve Lacy is really on the industry radar, he could take the fifth spot in Pop Solo.

It likely got blocked by a panel. Back then, the top 20 most voted albums got filtered through a panel of around 15-20 people that picked the final nominees. So the panel likely blocked it cuz most members didn’t like it or had an agenda to not nominate it.

    Thanks!

I love that you guys are so looking forward to the Grammy nominees. I’m very anxious for the Latin Grammy nominees that come out on September 22nd. It’s going to be quite a fight!

Well, Steve Lacy did get into R&B Album with “Apollo XXI”, an independent album.

He could indeed appeal to voters with a hit era released by a competitive label.

Honey, we’ve been through this a million times.  Fiona Apple was intentionally blocked in Album of the Year by the blue-ribbon committee so that Taylor Swift could easily win.  Duh!

God, I only wish Omar Apollo gets that Best New Artist nomination! His album was already amazing, but the deluxe version is even better.

Joji nor Bad Bunny are happening in Pop Solo. Voters will go with Ed Sheeran/“Shivers” before those two.

Get real!  “Heat Waves” and “Hold My Hand” are NOT happening in Record of the Year and Song of the Year, respectively.

I’m between The 30th (Billie Eilish), Shivers (Ed Sheeran) and Bad Habit (Steve Lacy).

Was this a recent rule change or has that always been there?

Been there for more than a decade

People are really that sure about Anitta in BNA?

Personally I’m only positive about Zach Bryan, Latto and Muni Long in BNA (I still don’t know if Joji is eligible). I think a lot us are predicting Anitta because BNA is dry as hell, she had a great year and has the alphabetical advantage. I’m sure she’ll campaign hard too. Won’t be surprising at all if she misses though. I hope she makes it, would love to see a Brazilian nominated.

BNA is so dry, they can nominate anyone really at this point. If Paul gives an idea on how the BNA ballot looks like then it’ll help us make more accurate predictions.

I don’t think BLACKPINK is aiming for the US market with their new single. The credits imply that the song is gonna be largely in Korean and there’s no US promo lined up. They wanted to have their big break in the western market with “Ice Cream” featuring Selena Gomez but it didn’t go as well as they hoped.

I’m also certain, they’ve been submitted 2-3 times in BNA already.
