Honey, Alesso and Katy Perry (YUCK!) are NOT happening in any category.

Honey, my question was about submissions.

And now all of a sudden, Billie Eillish and Tony/Gaga were “no1currs” when they were deemed “frontrunners” to win and Jon Batiste was barely top 5. That’s revisionist history.

    This!!!!

GD was abuzz with the assumption that Gaga and Billie were the front runners. Users cited their multiple noms as proof of passion, even asserting that both getting into MV implied they will win Silk Sonic as they only got 4 noms.

The sudden change of story is perplexing. Why didn’t Brandi benefit from the split? She’s in fact believed to have passion.

The Americana block might not be big enough for her to secure a win as big as AOTY.

Björk has announced a new album. Fossora, the follow-up to 2017’s Utopia, will arrive in the fall, The Guardian reports. The album includes a recurring sextet of bass clarinets, a smattering of gabber beats, and a theme—reflected in the title, based on the word “digger” in Latin—of mushroom life. It also includes two songs written for Björk’s late mother, the environmental activist Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir, who died in 2018.

Fossora features a song with Serpentwithfeetand backing vocals from Björk’s son, Sindri, and daughter, Ísadóra, as well as contributions from Gabber Modus Operandi, the Indonesian dance duo who brewed up a style that they and Björk termed “biological techno.” Describing Utopia as “a pacifist, idealistic album with flutes and synths and birds,” Björk envisages Fossora thus: “Let’s see what it’s like when you walk into this fantasy and, you know, have a lunch and farrrrt, and do normal things, like meet your friends” – Pitchfork

Fossora”! Alternative lock for the 2024 GRAMMYs? She’ll get nominated if she releases in September, but against Arcade Fire and Big Thief… Let’s see! 🤣 I’m looking forward to it. The 2024 GRAMMYs Alt. Field could have Björk and Arctic Monkeys one more time.

That’s one thing I constantly think about. I guess americana voters are leading to Silk Sonic or Brandi Carlile. That’s one of the reasons why I think Bruno & Anderson are winning.

Baptiste won in a very weak year and he’s definitely perceived like a different artist from Beyoncé, last year he won an Oscar for Original score, that alone put more credibility on him as musician-artist than whatever Beyoncé did in her entire career.

Beyoncé has like a bucketload of awards, million grossing tours, one of the most acclaimed albums of last decade and like every achievement under the sun. I don’t care whether you guys think she’s winning AOTY or not but pushing this “Beyoncé is a talentless hag” narrative is very facetious and disconnected from reality. Very GoldDerby moment.

Honey, don’t get delusional.  Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak are NOT winning Album of the Year.

if self-titled and Lemonade couldn’t get past majority appeal, no way a dance record like Renaissance is winning even if Bey decides to “evermore” during voting season, its not the type of album to garner major bloc support especially w such heavy players in respective fields this year

You’re saying this, nobody said she’s a talentless hag 🤣 just because we said Batiste has more credibility as artist in general which has nothing to do with  sales, grossing tours, numbers or success.

Batiste’s Oscar for composing a movie score and being a real musician-composer who can plays instruments has more value than the bucketloads of awards that Beyoncé won so far.

Correct. MV was definitely used in Tony/Gaga’s case as “passion.” People even thought they would make a clean sweep because of it. Hindsight is everything on this board.

In his defense he did win Best Music Video in a field packed with 5 other ROTY contenders. So could we assume that after Leave the Door Open he would’ve won Record of the Year as well?

Honey, we do NOT know if Jon Batiste was submitted in Song of the Year.

Yes, we do. Billboard confirmed it.

If y’all wanna believe someone who couldn’t beat “Bad Habits” for SOTY had overwhelming passion and wasn’t simply a result of other factors, then that’s your choice to make. Hopefully this logic results in more successful predictions.

Maybe, although Brandi was not in BMV or AOTY, so there’s no evidence that Jon would’ve gotten Americana supporr with such a big Americana darling right there.

And before a certain user tries it, “Same Devil” was a non charting remix that only got a nom due to ballot placement. “Right On Time” is is not, and ROT would’ve easily won both its Americana awards.
