hello all! it’s been a while since I’ve been around, but i am so excited for nominations day as the eligibility period comes to an end. i will try my best to catch up on everything discussed, but I wanted to ask a few things.

• Who are BNA contenders as of today? I can’t seem to make a list of 10 (or even 8). most of the people i had in contention are not eligible anymore
• In what categories do you all see Harry Styles getting a nomination?

The deluxe edition of Alabama Shake’s Sound Color was released at the end of 2021. I guess the new songs has been recorded at that time. Then, since they aren’t new recordings, they can’t get nominated. Right?

I could see “Drive By Baby” being nominated for the new Best Alternative Music Perfomance category.

Conan Gray is seemingly brought up in the BNA conversation every year & somehow always misses. Even in a weak field, I doubt he gets in.

I keep saying to myself that they will get one even if the album was not that well received. They got a hit out of it and their tour has been huge + all the reasons you mentioned. AOTY + Pop Duo/Group performance could very well happen. Then maybe Pop Vocal and Music Video if the voters are on board

This. They are pretty much locked in BPDGP and a safe bet in AOTY. BPVA is also possible because they are an easy name check and the album has momentum because of the tour.

Since last year, BMV has been a grey area for me, but they could make it depending on their submission. I currently have Coldplay with a minimum of 1-3 nods and a maximum of 5 (if voters are really on board like you said)

Though Coldplay & Black Pumas were blocked from Best Rock Album, they were likely in the top 10 for AOTY. Can’t think of two more names, but I could see at least 5 of these names in the top 8 if there was a straight vote:

• Fiona Apple
• Black Pumas
• Coldplay
• Brittany Howard
• Dua Lipa
• Post Malone
• Taylor Swift
• Harry Styles

If you’re not feeling creative or have no clue who to predict, just fill your top 10s with Coldplay, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift. None of them are winning, but they could always sneak into AOTY.
