Lol everyone you know in the music industry wants a Grammy. They just love to pretend they don’t to look cool and edgy.
Look at how The Weeknd stayed silent until the Grammys snubbed him – a real snub btw – but it speaks volumes how he only said Grammys are corrupt when he got snubbed big time. He had no problem kissing their ass before. Still, he opted not to submit his lead credited music anymore.
Another huge example is Nicki Minaj. Oh boy Barbz pretend she’s above Grammys yet their fave desperately wants one so bad. Look how she made a big deal about SFG and attacked Latto online. Embarrassing.
Many artists might proclaim their hatred for Grammys. But keep in mind, the Grammys is an industry award like the Oscars & Emmys. Unlike AMAs/VMAs, real music creators vote for you. Everyone you know are most likely Grammy members like Beyoncé & Taylor – only exception are newer artists. However, the Grammys don’t reveal their list of invited artists to become members like how the Oscars do.
In short, it’s still a big deal. Industry awards are all corrupt and problematic anyway. Film studios and music labels spend money in their FYC ads to grab a voter’s attention. This is Hollywood.
Awards are fun and pretentious. It’s okay to hate it but it’s also more than okay for artists to be happy when they win. So don’t attack an artist if they submit. Y’all as stans care by tuning in to the Grammys every year anyway lol

According to the Grammy’s website, the submission period for the 2023 ceremony was between July 18 and August 31, 2022. That was around two weeks before Renaissance’s release and a month after the album was announced. It seems like Adele could have easily not submitted 30 if she wanted to so Queen Bey could finally take home her award without competition from a grammy darling with a near-perfect track record.
Or maybe she didn’t think the album was shaping up to be worthy after listening to Break My Soul, released 29 days before the submission period? That seems possible too.
Pretty sure artists aren’t the ones who submit their work. Also, just because Adele felt that Lemonade should have won last time doesn’t mean she shouldn’t want recognition for this album. And besides, Adele removing herself from Grammy recognition just to give Beyoncé a chance would reek of cockiness and would be offensive to Beyoncé. Y’all really argue about silly things.

You have two choices to don’t contradict yourself, don’t submit your work and forfeit or get up to stage when you win and say ” my album deserves it, i’m better than you bitches.” Simple as that.

I disagree. I think you can submit thinking your album deserves to be taken into consideration by the academy and your peers among the good releases of that year and deserves to be celebrated by being listened / nominated / mentioned at the ceremony among them without necessarily thinking it is better than everyone else’s album. Of course an artist wants to see their work recognized because they are proud of it, still they don’t control the voting body so it’s not like the more they want it the more they get it. Adele could have been wanting some recognition for her opus / efforts and still believe Beyonce delivered AOTY.
Otherwise you are suggesting that an artist should only submit when they think their work is better than anyone else, which I think it is only true in like 5% of cases especially in a lineup of legends.
