If the record is really THE record, I could actually see these girls having a better shot than Arctic Monkeys. Bridgers is basically a pop star right now – something Turner really doesn’t want to be. She’s having her moment and I bet the Recording Academy loves her.

Arctic Monkeys are big in the industry too. They won 3 times AOTY in the BRITs but actually never was really appreciated by the american academy. I think they will have their moment and maybe a weak year without a clear frontruuner could be the perfect time. The Car is well written and perfectly engineered album with very few credits. They also have their mainstream moment with Do I Wanna Know? going viral and being back on charts.

Alternative’s pick for Best New Artist will probably be Gracie Abrams. Her album was well recived and she’s on the beggining of the ballot. If Caroline Polachek get some passion in alternative field then they can push her too or instead of Gracie.
I feel like A$AP Rocky is going to have a big comeback tbh. Wouldn’t be shocked to see a Rihanna collab on the album. It would be nice to see him get a Rap Album nod. Also, I think Drake will cave in and submit Her Loss. I think he will do it just for 21 since it’s a joint effort. He should put his differences aside.

Travis Scott is coming in June with Utopia and this may be a contender too. Tyler, The Creator releases a deluxe version of CMIYGL so I don’t think he will be in the game in album categories and he’s not strong in song and performance.
