Lana is totally sneaking in the General Field again this year. If A&W is submitted, it’s a shoo-in for a SOTY nomination. AOTY is very plausible too.
thank God.
she is absolutely not taking home a grammy from the gf, but we love just those nominations for her.
your mom called, i told her, you're fucking up big time!
April 1, 2023 at 12:28 am #1205373188If Lana could sneak into BPVA with ‘Lust for Life’, I see no reason why ‘Ocean Blvd’ cannot, if the category’s weak af.
April 1, 2023 at 12:31 am #1205373190As much as I love Melanie, I don’t think ‘PORTALS’ is happening. She just doesn’t have enough visibility as a ‘Pop’ artist for the Grammys.

that’s why it would be a wise option for her to submit to another field, such as maybe alt rock? “portals” can count as an alt rock album, right?
if the album gets big enough, i see it getting some nods in those categories.

April 1, 2023 at 2:01 am #1205373215I’m back after being MIA for the last two years and successfully predicting folklore winning Album of the Year despite many Taylor-haters disguised as pretentious predictors (Danielle?(That blonde avi), Gucci, Insert Others) saying otherwise. Only back here to say that Taylor “The Most Popular, Most Global and Most Successful Solo Artist of all Time” Sweep, I mean Swift, will sweep the next Grammy awards winning Album of the Year for Midnights, the most commercially successful and most critically acclaimed album of the year by “real” critics, and Record of the Year and Song of the Year for the most relatable, most skillfully written and best produced song and record of the year, Anti-hero.

April 1, 2023 at 3:38 am #1205373248boygenius should submit $20 to the Best Alternative Music Performance category. It’ll probably get snubbed in the Rock Field.
Ugh this was the kind of shit I prayed against when they made that category (rock songs sneaking into alt performance). But with its song structure and everything, I also consider it fitting for Alt Perf as opposed to pure Rock Perf.

The NRC no longer exists. This will not happen. She should take the Alternative Performance nomination (and possible win) and be happy.
April 1, 2023 at 5:47 am #1205373282Tyler, The Creator is back. It seems like a big Rap contender.
Isn’t it just a deluxe version of CMIYGL though? That already won for Best Rap Album in 2022, so I don’t think it’s eligible?
April 1, 2023 at 5:54 am #1205373284What does everyone think of Chlöe’s debut solo album In Pieces released yesterday?
I thought it was pretty good, although critics reviews were mixed. Chloe x Halle have received multiple nominations in the past as a duo, so I’m intrigued to see whether they will also get some love from the Academy as soloists.
In Pieces would be a good nomination in Progressive R&B Album, although it definitely won’t win if it’s up against SOS. Maybe In Pieces (the title track) for Best R&B Song? Cheatback with Future in Best Melodic Rap Performance?
I also wonder if Halle will get a nomination in the Visual Field for her original The Little Mermaid songs. She’s also spoken about wanting to release her solo music soon, but I’d imagine that would be for the next eligibility period.
April 1, 2023 at 5:55 am #1205373286Janelle Monaé is dropping a new album soon. I enjoyed the lead single ‘Float’, but I wonder if it has a chance in the GF this time? Dirty Computer managed to get into AOTY with much fewer slots. This album seems like it’ll be more urban/Afrobeats inspired, so I wonder what the chances of a GF nomination will be this time?

Agreed. However, I’ve been thinking about that and I remembered last year Big Thief’s Simulation Swarm (the perfect song for Best Alternative Music Performance) was accepted in Rock and then they submitted Certainty (also a wonderful song) to Alternative, so… boygenius could try that too.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say she’s a shoe-in for Song of The Year if A&W is submitted (even being on the literal top of the ballot). This song has such a dark and strong topic, it would be insane if nominated.
Lana has a great ballot position. I have a good feeling about A&W in Best Alternative Music Performance.
April 1, 2023 at 7:39 am #1205373335Get real! “Flowers” (BARF!) is NOT winning Best Pop Solo Performance at this very moment. Pure delusion.
April 1, 2023 at 7:48 am #1205373339Let’s discuss some other categories?
What are y’all predictions for the Dance/Electronic, Country, Latin, American Roots and Global Music Field?
