Rolling Stone just reported that the Grammys might be delayed until March due to Covid problems. Infection rates are super high in LA so this makes sense. How do you think this changes things?

ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:05 pm #1203964275I think this is really embarrassing and silly on their part. They knew what January would look like and still didn’t plan a virtual show.
I mean the winners won’t be affected but smh, they’ve made mistake after mistake this year.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:07 pm #1203964289This is incredibly sloppy. It would have made more sense to plan a virtual-only ceremony before the nominations were even announced. That way, the show would go on as planned on 1/31. The pandemic won’t end in March, so it’s dumb to move it without some major changes to the standard format. The fact that other music award shows were able to put together a show without any push backs, but the Grammys (“the pinnacle of music,” as some people would like to put it) can’t adapt is really dumbfounding to me.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:12 pm #1203964320It’s extremely vain to me. Red carpets and glitz with glamour is needed that fuckin’ bad? Get with everyone else and just do the shit virtually like the Emmys did. They had MONTHS to prepare and the virus isn’t gonna go away in 8 weeks. If they do this, they might as well extend the voting period cause there is NO POINT TO THIS.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:15 pm #1203964331They closed the voting and said thank you for your votes. They couldn’t extend the voting period because labels spent money on final round promo and they would be annoyed I think.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:15 pm #1203964333The arrogance in not planning a virtual-only show and advertising a business-as-usual “live on the Grammy stage!” roster of performances SMDH. Hire a competent and permanent CEO for starters, and then get to planning for the virtual show stat. Nothing’s going to be better with a global pandemic in March.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:17 pm #1203964338I hope the winners leak at this point. It feels so pretentious and self-centered that they just can’t bring themselves to have some less grand virtual show like literally everyone else.

January 5, 2021 at 12:18 pm #1203964341I feel bad for the artists that were planning on using it as part of a promotional campaign. This probably totally changes Adele’s entire album rollout, whatever Beyoncé had planned, I’m sure Dua and Taylor had big plans too.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:18 pm #1203964343the Grammys twitter account literally tweeted this yesterday, it must have been a recent decision to postpone it.

January 5, 2021 at 12:19 pm #1203964348Worse Grammy season in history. I can’t even blame COVID. This is all the producers and the Academy’s fault.

Song Written for Visual Media: Beautiful GhostsJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:23 pm #1203964356Just another reason why the Grammys are such a mess. Do they think it will be better in March?
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:24 pm #1203964360Surely this was pushed by the filming shutdown in LA. And probably the big ones at the academy decided some time ago but didnt tell the publicity guys not to interfere in voting. So announcing the day is over makes sense.
ReplyCopy URLJanuary 5, 2021 at 12:27 pm #1203964374I knew this was going to happen. Our Covid #s here in LA meant it made no sense for the show to be able to go on this January… even if producers wanted it to, the artists would back out.
Postponing seems dumb at this point. Just announce the winners at the end of the month and plan for an extravagant telecast next year.
