I have Brittany beating Fiona in Alt album because she was able to get the engineering nod whereas Fiona missed. Is that an unreasonable assumption?

No, but Ella Mai had an Engineered Album nod but still lost R&B Album. Not sure if that nod matters in smaller categories. Brittany is nominated in multiple fields, so that could be what gives her the edge. I still think Fiona will have enough passion to win, now that she seems to be pushing “Shameika,” which some people completely underestimated in the Rock field for some reason.

I had the same thought. I currently have Brittany winning Alternative Album and Rock Performance while Fiona wins Rock Song.

Brittany also got a bunch of noms in other genres. I think Fiona will lose again, sadly. Fiona has a chance in Performance and Song, tho. Shameika is badass.

Sort of final reaction to the Grammys:

This was a declaration from the BRP that they are not for innovation.
They are for very traditional, rich, well-crafted music. There’s nothing wrong with the nominees, including Coldplay. The music in their album is outstanding; but it doesn’t bring anything new. Jacob Collier’s arrangements are truly beautiful. The Black Pumas are soulful and marvelous. So I’m overall happy with their selection. It makes for a very interesting, unexpected year in music. They also want to make clear that they won’t completely listen to either critics or sales-and that they will forge their own way. I think it’s really obvious there were different people in the panel this year than last year. And they made their mark.

The BRP kinda closed their ears to the noise took their decisions carefully. The 8 albums have great content each one of them. They said I won’t nominate all these charty albums without substance just because it had that hit or that. Very few AOTY nominated albums had hits actually this year.

The line up is a proper mix of commercial performance, quality, impact, and genres. The albums nominated are all outstanding as a whole body of work, not just one damn song catapulted by a social media app.

I’ve seen many people be excited for most of the albums because they are all good. The way they could have fixed this was to allow Blinding Lights in Record and Abel in the 3 pop categories by replacing Justin. That way it is still a snub but nowhere near as big it is now. I think it would have been amazing and would have been able to satisfy a lot more people.
