November 26, 2020 at 11:23 am #1203875563I’ve seen many people be excited for most of the albums because they are all good. The way they could have fixed this was to allow Blinding Lights in Record and Abel in the 3 pop categories by replacing Justin. That way it is still a snub but nowhere near as big it is now. I think it would have been amazing and would have been able to satisfy a lot more people.
TBH even the Song and Record of the Year nominations are great. I definitely could have done without Black Parade in exchange for BL in ROTY. However I can see why Beyoncé got in, it’s a great song and embodies black excellence.
Congratulations Taylor Swift on 6 Grammy Nominations
Album of the Year: folklore
Song of the Year: cardigan
Pop Solo Performance: cardigan
Pop Duo/Group Performance: exile feat. Bon Iver
Pop Vocal Album: folklore
Song Written for Visual Media: Beautiful GhostsNovember 26, 2020 at 11:26 am #1203875565HDD had Harry and The Weeknd as AOTY locks, with Lil Baby. None of them got in.
They are posting articles since noms day about how out of touch the noms are. There is an article of Pop Smokes Manager saying Pop had the second biggest album and should have been nominated.November 26, 2020 at 11:33 am #1203875587Sort of final reaction to the Grammys:
This was a declaration from the BRP that they are not for innovation.
They are for very traditional, rich, well-crafted music. There’s nothing wrong with the nominees, including Coldplay. The music in their album is outstanding; but it doesn’t bring anything new. Jacob Collier’s arrangements are truly beautiful. The Black Pumas are soulful and marvelous. So I’m overall happy with their selection. It makes for a very interesting, unexpected year in music. They also want to make clear that they won’t completely listen to either critics or sales-and that they will forge their own way. I think it’s really obvious there were different people in the panel this year than last year. And they made their mark. And yet, they can still find room for Post Malone.
November 26, 2020 at 12:00 pm #1203875639After listening to folklore and watching her recording session film I do think she deserves aoty. It still doesn’t justify how blatantly the academy set up her win tho. Like only nominating albums that didn’t even make it in their genre categories, meaning they knew they weren’t getting enough votes ?? I think they secured Taylor’s win by manipulating the process when in reality she could’ve won regardless, and then it would feel like a much bigger accomplishment. Now if she doesn’t win it’d be embarrassing and it’s not a fair race at all.
November 26, 2020 at 12:13 pm #1203875655Yes. After the panel “blocking” Taylor it is so funny they went ahead and set her win up.
November 26, 2020 at 12:18 pm #1203875661If only Abel fans were able to show to buy and stream his album other than Blinding Lights or critics actually were floored by the album, we wouldn’t be in the predicament we are huh?
sorry what do u mean by this
November 26, 2020 at 12:26 pm #1203875673Isnt it possible that the recording academy liked the AOTY nominees the most in their respective genres? Like they thought those were the better albums of the year? Am i naive to think it is.
I mean, i only listened to folklore. I heard Dua’s album is 80s pop and it got great reviews, people said in this forum that Jacob guy album was giood, the Black Pumas album is supposed to be great, and also HAIM album i think is the best reviewed album of the bunch? (followed by folklore). Heard good things about Chilombo too, though it doesnt have a metacritic score.
The only unexpleinable would be Coldplay. I find it hard to believe their mediocre-asses released a good album but everything is possible.
November 26, 2020 at 12:32 pm #1203875681Took the time to listen to nominees, aoty pretty solid
I would only replace coldplay with fiona and maybe dua with brittany
November 26, 2020 at 12:47 pm #1203875708Honey, Best Engineered Album nominees lose their genre album categories. Fiona Apple is winning Best Alternative Music Album.
November 26, 2020 at 12:55 pm #1203875720It’s also worth noting that Beck’s Hyperspace also got an Engineered Album nomination, not just Jaime.

November 26, 2020 at 1:20 pm #1203875762It’s time to abolish the BRP anyways. The Grammys require full-scale reform measures top to bottom to begin to address its systemic bias and corrupt business practices.
November 26, 2020 at 1:30 pm #1203875780the BRP put a before and after on ed sheeran’s career
