BRP is must. Because without them, it will be only popularity contest just like VMA, AMA etc. Payola will be the major factor in that case.
Exactly. Without the BRP, Justin Bieber’s “Changes” would have been nominated for AOTY this year…

The BRP is the reason Bon Iver was nominated. Vampire Weekend (sorry, Weeknd). Lana. Arcade Fire. Lorde. HAIM. I could go on and on. The BRP are a beautiful bunch of people in my head.
Even if the fuckers didn’t like FTBC.

BRP blocked The Weeknd – corrupted
Yet you conveniently leave out that the pop genre included Sheeran in PVSP & PVA. And he won both! Stop being disingenuous. It’s not the same. Also, Sheeran didn’t show up that year to the ceremony. He might not have done what The Weeknd has, but he was clearly salty over the BRP’s snubbing.

Pop field have no committee/BRP.
For you consideration :
Album of the year : folklore

Song of the year : cardigan
Best new artist : Phoebe BridgersBest pop vocal album : folklore
Best rap album : Alfredo
Best alternative music album : Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Best progressive R&B album : Ungodly HourNovember 27, 2020 at 12:16 am #1203876958Yet you conveniently leave out that the pop genre included Sheeran in PVSP & PVA. And he won both! Yeah, he had his genre’s support, weeknd clearly didn’t. R&B committee clearly chose jhene and bey as their reps and not the weeknd. How’s that BRP’s fault?
November 27, 2020 at 12:20 am #1203876962Sheeran would have swept the floor in Grammys if BRP wasn’t there, unlike The Weeknd who lost the genre vote. Everyone here when people raised concerns of whether AH and BL are good material they were dismissed on spot. I never got the appeal for BL, to me DSN was always a superior choice musically for representation of the sound of the year. BRP thought the same and that’s how it ended.
November 27, 2020 at 12:22 am #1203876970The weekend had no support this year. He even missed those pop noms.

Again. I think The Weeknd made the GF top 20 and was blocked. Said that multiple times.

I know. That’s not the point I made.
November 27, 2020 at 12:50 am #1203876990I must say that we all are hypocrite. We were cheering up when BRP did block Ed Sheeran, artist we hate but when they did the same thing to other artist, this time to our fave Abel suddenly we dragged them. Any kind of interference involving BRP in selecting GF nominees is indeed a corruption regardless the result. We all are clowns, I’m afraid.

Well to be fair, After Hours is a lot better than Divide so

yea so they thought his album was completely ass and blocked it, where’s the corruption? that’s kind of what their job is, filtering out what they deem isn’t good enough.

It shouldn’t be their job as clear overreach that backfired on them. I’ve said that before too. If The Weeknd wants to call BRP corrupt, he should. It’s perfectly valid.

You know when you think about it, Ed Sheeran was snubbed harder by the BRP because he had a popular vote in his genre category but was shut out by them so he couldn’t even contest for an AOTY. He could have sweeped for all we know. The weeknd virtually has no genre support and even if he’s in the top 20, if he couldn’t even bag his noms amongst the genre voters why should the BRP feel compelled to nominate him? It makes no sense.
