Honey; it’s rather obvious a bunch of white people on the BRP purposely blocked The Weeknd, a black man, in order for overrated white acts like Taylor Swift to win again. White privilege is real. BARF!
So it’s white privilege when someone talented like Taylor gets 6 noms, but when Justin gets 4 noms, he’s that “bitch” even though he put out some of the worst music of the year. 🤢☠️
AOTY: folklore
ROTY: Savage (Remix)
SOTY: Don’t Start Now
BNA: Megan Thee StallionNovember 27, 2020 at 7:42 am #1203877408Honey, the General Field winners will be all white. #GrammysSoWhite
Record of the Year: Dua Lipa, “Don’t Start Now” (BARF!)
Album of the Year: Taylor Swift, folklore (BARF!)
Song of the Year: “cardigan” (BARF!)
Best New Artist: Phoebe Bridgers (BARF!)November 27, 2020 at 7:42 am #1203877410I would have preferred Lose you to love me nominated over freakin yummy.
One was one of the most acclaimed songs of 2019 whilst the other is trend chasing trash that had to be forced upon audiences and payola’d to death.
November 27, 2020 at 7:45 am #1203877412Istg I haven’t been the same person ever since I saw yummy on that damn screen.
November 27, 2020 at 7:55 am #1203877428Yummy truly is the pandemic in music industry.
For you consideration :
Album of the year : folklore
Record of the year : Don't Start Now
Song of the year : cardigan
Best new artist : Phoebe BridgersBest pop vocal album : folklore
Best rap album : Alfredo
Best alternative music album : Fetch the Bolt Cutters
Best progressive R&B album : Ungodly HourNovember 27, 2020 at 8:11 am #1203877444JB’s music being white mediocrity has re-entered the public conversation
November 27, 2020 at 8:15 am #1203877449The argument that The Weeknd was excluded bc of lacking quality doesn’t hold up when Post Malone and Coldplay are right there/other black artists who delivered high quality projects were snubbed.
And again, the BRP knew Ed and JT had those pop nominations when they snubbed them in the general field. They knew The Weeknd would get nothing if they left him out of the general field, knew how ridiculous it would look to the industry/general public, and still did it.
I know the forum is mostly stans now bc a group of awards obsessives should be very interested in one of the biggest snubs of all time. Instead most are pretending it’s normal or even good 💀

funny how the world went to shit after that

See, this is why I’m doubting that he made top 20. It seems so bizarre to block him knowing the backlash that would come out of it
! The claim in this post is disputed

The Swifties trying to justify The Weeknd snub is hilarious
The Blue Ribbon Panel knew what they were doing when they put Post Malone and Coldplay there instead because they have 0 chances to win.

Do you really believe Bliding Lights didn’t even make the top 20 of ROTY or SOTY?

It couldn’t beat Yummy on a straight vote so yeah.
I do agree that they set up Taylor for the win though. She deserves it but they should have Brittany in there.! The claim in this post is disputed
November 27, 2020 at 9:04 am #1203877507A lot of people on here are making such baseless assumptions. Although a few of the picks seem random, I don’t doubt that any of the albums nominated didn’t make Top 20.
Coldplay are literally veterans within the industry. Voters could’ve been lazy and just name-checked them, since they’re near the top of the ballot. They also got a random Pop Album nomination for a flop EP in 2018 over Lorde, an AOTY nominee. They clearly have support. Everyday Life was also submitted to Rock Album, where the Rock committee could’ve blocked it.
Jacob Collier has a ton of support from people within the industry including the likes of Quincy Jones who is his mentor.
HAIM are highly respected musicians who released one of the most acclaimed albums of the year. They missed Alternative Album on a straight vote, however we’ve seen this happen before with the likes of Lana Del Rey missing Pop last year but still making AOTY.
Jhené has one of the best selling R&B albums of the year. She also got nominated for AOTY at Soul Train, showcasing support for.
Black Pumas were nominated for BNA last year, so they were clearly on voters’ radar. As I said before nominations, they had a minor hit and could surprise in the GF, which they did.
I’ve said this numerous times now but there’s no point in guessing what was and what wasn’t in the Top 20, since it’s so unpredictable.
November 27, 2020 at 9:10 am #1203877515Honey, I’m sure “Blinding Lights” beat “Yummy” on a straight vote. The song was removed for shady reasons.
