Chilombo in AOTY was a sour note. We knew there was going to be a Progressive R&B pick, but that was the dryest pick there. I preferred Thundercats, Lianne La Havas, Ungodly Hour, and Over It commercially and critically.

Just a reminder that Jhene was heavenly promoted on the Grammys website and YouTube channel where she might have caught the eye of voters.

The comparisons to Rep make no sense. Reputation was largely seen as an artistic misstep and out of the two hits of the album, one wasn’t that big and was radio-driven and the other was universally seen as an artistic disaster, the Yummy of the year. And yet Taylor still got at least ONE nom in PVA, Abel got nothing despite being lightyears ahead of where Taylor was when she was “snubbed”. Taylor genuinely had to make a better album whereas Abel released what is arguably his best and most successful one and yet got even less than what Taylor did in her “bad” year.

You have to be kidding me lol, Taylor’s yummy moment was ME! Rep was a pretty great album and would have garnered more appreciation if she wasn’t cancelled in 2017. Also, Abel’s best work doesn’t necessarily have to be the best in the year so this line of argument makes no sense. ALSO, rep was as commercially successful as AH, if not more. It was the best selling album then, LWYMMD broke Spotify and YouTube records and delicate is her longest charting hit. You think rep is a misstep because Taylor was so hated back then.

Regardless, Abel being snubbed does give off a very anti-black narrative. AOTY snub? Could be accepted but him being completely shut off is pretty controversial. A lot of you are pushing this narrative that BRP cleared the way for Taylor (we know why you do it) but anyway, that’ll be cleared on 31st so hold your horses till then.

I feel no passion to even debate the Grammy’s odds this season. I couldn’t have been more disappointed. You know if a song like God’s Plan got snubbed or something, you can at least try to understand, maybe the lyrics are way too basic, the production is very bad. But Blinding Lights? Say what you want about the song, but the lyrics are definitely better than a lot of SOTY nominees and winners this decade. And the production is actually its highlight, objectively.

This is an insult really to the entire industry, including the nominees. What does it matter if Dua Lipa wins a Grammy this year if the award has become worthless in the eyes of the general public and music critics?

I’m not someone who’s a massive The Weeknd fan at all. He’s actually consistently gotten on my nerves for some reason and I hate I Can’t Feel My Face with a passion. Even I can objectively say that he deserved a ROTY nomination. It hasn’t ruined the whole Grammy season for me at all though. The fact is that Abel missed due to a very very unlikely scenario happening from a random combination of factors.

Plus, a lot of my favorites did really well. I’m thrilled for Dua, Taylor, Megan, Phoebe, Chloe x Halle etc. Bummed for Rina (but that was always a pipe dream anyways).

I also realized that if Taylor wins the 3 awards I’m predicting her for (BPVA, BPDGP, AOTY) then her total will be 13, which I thought would be kind of cool for her.

    FYC:

Phoebe Bridgers- BNA, Rock Song, Rock Performance, Alternative Album

Dua Lipa- ROTY, Pop Solo Performance

Chloe x Halle- Traditional R&B Performance, R&B Song, Progressive R&B Album

Honey, NARAS has got to stop nominating Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, and Taylor Swift for every fucking song and album.  BARF!

Yeah I’m definitely not as enthusiastic right now but I’ve some bad stuff going on in these last couple days. I’m gonna be really excited once we get to the end of December and the actual awards get closer.

I think this is the best set of nominees in recent years. I am excited for next year. Abel realistically only deserved ROTY recognition his album is way overrated. But anyways it’s gonna be a bloodbath between Miss Dua and Miss Taylor. Each of these girls deserve it, their years were huge and I can’t wait to see them up on that stage.

Congratulations Taylor Swift on 6 Grammy Nominations

Girl, I personally like Rep, it’s actually the album that made me a fan, but it absolutely was seen as an artistic misstep at the time. It barely has a 71 on Metacritic. Like you can disagree with that, but it’s a fact. Take off your stan goggles, Reputation, at least at its time of release, was not well-received. Also, LWYMMD is a terrible song, at least MEss! has some semblance of a hook.

Notchu trying to convince me ME! Isn’t her worst song 💀 lover is her worst album. Rep was a disappointment too but it’s negative reviews were atleast partly influenced by her personal image at the time. Lover deserved the rep slander and y’all can’t convince me otherwise.

Also, 71 on metacritic isn’t that bad. Most of Taylor’s albums before folklore are in a similar range.
