Hi, I thought about making this thread for everything HS related. I know that there aren’t a lot of fans on here, but with Fine Line Harry has become one of the big players in music and it is always fun to be updated.
Right now Harry is filming Don’t Worry Darling (dir. Olivia Wilde), and we still do not have a release date or any idea of when promo could start. We also know he has been in the studio and he’s writing HS3, still no idea when he will release but: 1) he is quite a perfectionist, last time he took 3 years between albums, 2) COVID could either make the process faster (more time to write, no tour) or slower (if he wants to tour Fine Line first, or he was not able to record a lot since he likes to do it with all his collaborators in the studio rather than from home). If anyone has any idea as for when you think these two projects will come to light, write away!
I definitely think that the Fine Line era is finished, with TPWK being his final gift to fans. I know some people believe he will release other videos but I do not think so.
Another question mark is whether he will perform at the Grammy’s. He is friend with Ben Winston, one of the chair organizers, who some article claimed he “convinced” Harry to perform. What do you think? And if he performs, what songs? I do not have a lot of hope for the nominations, however I think that he could give us a performance since it’s been so long since he promoted or did anything like that. Since last March we only had one recorded performance in October.

Replyfirstly I think there won’t be a new album until late 2022/23, it seems like he’s more focused on his acting career during this covid time than he is on HS3. I expect DWD to be out late this year or early 2022.
for the grammys I‘d love to see him perform fine line with an orchestra..but that’s just wishful thinking lol
ReplyCopy URLI actually see HS3 being released this year, or at least the lead single this year and the album sometime early 2022. He was spotted recording with a few of his collaborators before the filming for DWD started and he’s said he was writing since the beginning of the first lockdown in March 2020. I don’t know how reliable some of these ‘insiders’ are but a few have indicated a musical project is in the works this year for him which would be exciting, especially if touring is held back further from happening.
The release for DWD is very up in the air considering the struggle Warner Brothers are in, but the release schedule will be stacked for films no matter what when heading into the aftermath of Covid so it may be dependent on what they think is best for awards contention. It would be nice if DWD could receive some awards love. I think there’s a good chance it could come out late this year but I think he will also take on other acting projects soon too.

Not touring has left him quite some time to write before he started with DWD. My doubts are: 1) maybe he just took the time to rest and recharge as everyone deserves in these difficult circumstances, 2) do you think he would want to tour Fine Line before releasing anything else?
I think a possibility is that the next album is a smaller project, very introspective and folks-y and with a lot of focus on lyrics and what he is feeling in these difficult times. This way he would probably still mainly tour Fine Line with a couple of new tracks. Personally I’d love something experimental, on the line of Sunflower, full of weird instruments and sounds, but we’ll see.

I hope for something this year because at the moment he feels like the only male artist that feels interesting (well him and The Weeknd) and I love Fine Line so I’m hoping we do get more music this year. But he is also a his actor (saw him in Dunkirk without realizing it was him since I never cared for 1D and he did a really good job) so he might focus on that which would still be good, I’m just really hoping for new music

I’m not sure what his feelings on not having a dedicated tour to Fine Line would be, but I think touring not being viable for so long changed the timeline for what he expected to do in his career (as it did for everyone). If he only toured Fine Line in 2022, it would be a 2 year old album at that point and he’d have to wait until that tour ended to release HS3 most likely. Adore You, Lights Up and TPWK were some of the last tracks to be written for Fine Line iirc which could indicate the direction he might go in for his next album, but I’d love for him to work with Greg Kurstin again since Sunflower was so good.

totally agree with you. even though he is the most experimental male pop artist of this time his albums are still relatively safe. I feel like he has sooo much more potential and he could make artistically way “bigger” albums than his first two works.

Self titled on tour was only 50% the same as the studio version in my opinion, he truly gave so much body to those songs while performing them one night after another. By the end of the tour they were so much fuller, so much freer. Some tracks on FL are so much more experimental than self titled already (which he balanced with other tracks that instead are more safe). I believe the next album will be even more experimental, weird. Harry is such a nerd when it comes to 70s and 80s music so I think it’s inevitable for his influences to be a big part of his sound, but I don’t think the result is negative.

i think he is growing into his own sound with every album. I think he becomes more and more of Harry in each album. I think HS3 will be even more authentic and I’m so excited for it
