Quite honestly, I don’t think 25 is as strong as 21. There is no denying that Adele is an incredibly talented vocalist & great songwriter, but I, and I think many others, were expecting so much from this album rather than what seems like a part two or extended version to her 6 time grammy winning predecessor.
Relative to winning top honors next February…as of right now she is the frontrunner but that can quickly change – we still have 7 months of eligibility remaining and a few Grammy favorites are slated to release new material in the next few months.

The whole Taylor just won thing is kinda redundant Adele is safe and easy absolutely no one would say she didn’t deserve it. What she’s done for the music industry is amazing. People seem to forget that the award is “Album of the Year” and not “Best Album of the Year.

Adele has all the ingredients to win a second Album of the Year award. Sales (the album will have sold ten million copies come Grammy time), acclaim, popularity and status will take her to the top.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 16, 2016 at 6:25 pm #416764I didn’t think it was possible, but because 1989 won (and compared to 25, it was less critically favored, had less album sales, etc), and seeing as 25 beat most, if not all of 1989’s records in every aspect, it will win. Unless the voters like the David Bowie album (but I heard that isn’t a safe choice)… my money’s on 25 winning.

1989 has a higher metacritic score than 25.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 16, 2016 at 6:59 pm #416766I would be completely and absolutely stunned if 25 does not win Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammy Awards. Heck I would be similarily surprised if 25 does not go home with at least 5 or 6 awards overall, including many of the general field biggies.
Heck, I feel Adele had Album of the Year on lockdown the moment she released 25. Unless it was a massive flop and dissapointment, I felt she was a lock to win AoTY. 25 has the acclaim, reviews, and certainly the sales to help back an AoTY win. Considering 25 has surpassed pretty much everyone’s expectations and broken records beyond anyone and everyone’s wildest dreams, there is no reason to think it will not win multiple Grammy’s next year, inluding all the major ones.
Plus it does not help that Adele is an immensely likeable person and someone voters will more than likely want to reward. Considering how hungry and deperate people were to have her back after her four year hiatus, I think voters will feel the same way towards acknowledging her return.
I know it is pretty darn early to call anyone a lock, but if anyone could be a superearly front runner for awards, Adele is as good a bet as anyone.
ReplyCopy URLFebruary 16, 2016 at 7:04 pm #416767Adele is a huge Grammy favorite, so I think she’s the frontrunner, but you never know with the Grammys. I had Taylor Swift predicted to win last night, but once the show started, I was leaning more toward Kendrick or Alabama Shakes, and thinking they’d definitely save the First Woman to Win Twice honor for Adele. Now I’m not sure if that helps or hurts her chances, or doesn’t matter at all.

who the fuck listens to metacritic? and wow!!!! 1989 (29 critics reviewed) is a measly 1 point higher than 25 (34 critics reviewed, you know, so more) out of 100. yes! that makes all the difference. btw fearless scored a whole 3 points lower than 21 and it still won AOTY, just like 21. fuuckk outta here with metacritic.
