Curious why all of you are saying Christina Aguilera would have won in 2004 and 2007 when she lost Pop Vocal Album to the Male Pop Vocal Performance winner both of those years.

ANOM was considerably more successful than the John Mayer song.

Beautiful is too baity to lose to CMAR, regardless of what happened in Pop Vocal Album. They were both huge so the theme and strength of the song would help it beat CMAR. Besides, she was seen as more of a “vocalist” and that helps as well.

Lorde won Pop Solo over Bruno and Bruno won Pop Album over Lorde in the same year. Same thing happened with Nelly Furtado & Sade and Celine Dion & Toni Braxton as far as splitting the categories. It could have happened. “Beautiful” would have been a strong competitor against “Cry Me a River,” especially when it had the SOTY nod and was the bigger hit.

2007, on the other hand, sounds like Gucci’s wishful thinking.

No way. Norah Jones completely swept that year including beating Mayer for New Artist.

Imagine choosing Bruno Mars over the pivoting pop culture phenomenon that was Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. The music video alone sets its far above just the way you are. A number 1 song is not automatically better than a number 2 just because it had a higher chart position. Speaking of Bad Romance only peaking at Number 2, how the hell did Kesha not get nominated that year?? Can anyone answer that for me

She either didn’t submit or they just ignored and didn’t take her seriously as an artist.
